The owner Julie and her family are truly lovely people who provided such a warm welcome to their beautiful home. The property and garden are so colourful and vibrant. Local Indonesian breakfast were provided which were all excellent and catered for our very early schedules. We were even given a pack up on the day we left. Julie helped organise a tour to the temples.

OMG what a nice hostel! It was the best hostel I’ve ever stayed. It is beautifully furnished and incredibly clean for a hostel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast is super delicious and so lovingly prepared. And if you have to leave early, you get a lunchbox packed with love. You have to stay when you are in Yogyakarta!

The Rumah Jawa is just the place I needed to come home to and relax. It's close enough to comfortably reach the station, landmarks and restaurants, but also in a relatively quiet area of Jogja. The staff is super accommodating and was helpful with some tips, which made my stay all the more valuable.

Small room but cosy and the bed was big enough and comfortable. Location is excellent in the middle of Malioboro but still tucked away in a quiet street. Good value for money.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
