Location is lovely! I stayed in rainy season, therefore hotel wasn't crowded and was chill. Although it's rainy season it was mostly raining in the evenings, so could see much anyway. Every morning hosts offered coffee and breakfast, was very welcoming and allowed me to stay longer than one night.

Located in Rantepao in the South Sulawesi region, Sulawesi Castle features a terrace. This 2-star guest house offers luggage storage space and free WiFi. Each room comes with a balcony.

Fantastic view from the balcony, where you can see all the city and mountains. The owner, Sarah, gave us very good advice for everything such as finding good local restaurants, where to visit and etc. Also, Sarah kindly arranged bus booking and took us to the bus stop although she was very busy.

Situated in Rantepao in the South Sulawesi region, Toraja ManuBackPacker has a garden.

The place is ok, clean enough, comfortable enough, quiet enough, and I had what I thought was a good tour with Leo so I originally gave a high rating, until I learnt that Leo had been speaking with Hendrik from another guesthouse I was due to check-in into after the stay here, and apparently badmouthing me for reasons I cannot fathom. After I booked a room with H months ahead, H started to harass me with WhatsApp messages and persistently tried to get me to go with him for tour at a whopping USD150/day, for which I never agreed. (Official rate according to tourist office is IDR6000 = USD40, I found out much later.) Upon checking in, Leo quote me USD70 which is less than half of H, which of course I took, since I haven't agreed to anything with H. Leo had told me at check-in that H had been in touch with him prior to my arrival claiming that I am "his tourist" seemingly meaning hands off my cash cow. I explained to Leo I had not agreed to H to anything, and that given his exorbitant rates, I feel no obligations to go with him in any way. Leo also said that H eventually said to Leo that if L had made arrangements with me already, then go ahead. Everything seemed settled, and I went on what I felt was a normal trip with Leo for the day, meaning no disasters, no hiccups, no one being difficult, money paid and service rendered, all seemingly happy. Leo even suggested that now that I know the roads and am more familiar, I could just hire a scooter from him for the next days and drive to the places again myself thus saving money. I took his suggestion and rented for a day and paid, and subsequently renewed rental for a day (I paid upon renewing), and renewed again (which I planned to pay when I return the scooter since Leo was not around when I looked for him several times). I felt we had an understanding and trust, and since I was staying with him at the Backpackers and had to meet him to check out and return scooter anyway. (cont'd)

Hospitality, kindness and willingness to help is second to none. The owners made my stay feel at home. Ibra is a fantastic host, he serves delicious breakfasts and the whole space is very homey and welcoming. And it is located in a beautiful quiet area very close to Torajan attractions. On top of that I was helped with my bus ticket back to Makassar. I am absolutely grateful for having stayed in such a wonderful place and if I am in Sulawesi again I will surely come back.

Charming place with nice staff. Sometimes they gave us a free fresh fruits salad in the afternoon, such a delicate gesture! The room was spacious and comfortable. Many guides were waiting just in front of the guesthouse.

We had a great stay at Mama Tia! Yacob and his family are great hosts, they offered tour to help us discover the Toraja culture and it was super interesting. The guesthouse is located in rice fields, room is clean and well equipped, super wifi. Common bathroom clean. Nice terrace overlooking the fields. Breakfast good and tasty. We even had dinner there (additional cost but as good as in any restaurant!) 100% would recommend.
