This is a good place to stay with very friendly staff, a nice pool, and spacious rooms with good AC. Considering the price per night it is to expect that the rooms are a bit old, the bathrooms mildly smelly and show some wear and tear, and that you occationally meet a geko, bug, or some mosquitoes in your room. In my experience this is completely normal for the price range. The place has no non-smoking rooms, but I didn't notice any smell in mine, and the staff let you choose your room so check more than one! Also, if you want the room cleaned extra well, all you have to do is ask the staff. They are extremely accommodating. The pool was clean during my stay, and I went swimming almost daily.
A recent review criticized the road next to the place (among other things). I do not know why; yes, traffic is dense, but there are two pedestrian crossings close by, and as any place in Jakarta u have to find the right moment to cross and the traffic let you through. I stayed here for two weeks, and not so many western tourists come here. The local area is interesting, and this is a perfect base for a couple of days - or longer - exploring southern parts of Jakarta. I can recommend:
- Check out the small local park called Taman Langsat a little south of this place (makes a good morning run)
- Try eating at Rumah Makan Putra Minang (Padang food), some of the best, and extremely affordable
- There are several more high-end places around, but I never cared to check them out.
- Explore the local Pasar, Pasar Mayestik and the textile shops in the area. The pasar food court serves yammy Bakso.
- Blok M with shops and food markets is approx 20-30 minutes walk away, or a 15-20 000k Gojek scooter ride.
I had a pleasurable stay here, and would recommend the place if you are not scared away by my review :-)

I didn't expect much for that price. I booked a room here after seeing the reviews which were really good - especially for that price.
Now, for my experience it was really bad. The room had no window, so as soon as I turned off the AC, it wasn't possible to breathe. The bathroom wasn't really clean and also there was no sink. Just a shower and toilet, no place to put down your stuff.
The mirror in the room was full of black spots, can't even say what it really was...
So unfortunately I really knew soon that I couldn't stay there for the trip. Left the next morning (because I arrived in the middle of the night) and informed the stuff that I had checked out. At least they wanted to help me in order to match my expectations. Also the area itself seemed to be a bit shabby.
At least for that one night the bed was comfortable.

Nice and clean, good location close to clubs and stuff on the main street.
