Great location for Northern Lights viewing, away from the city. Comfortable stay with everything needed. Shared kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to prepare meals. Common Areas with seating was spacious and comfortable. Included breakfast was great with standard options; breads, jams, meats, cheese, vegetables, yogurts, cold cereals, fruits, coffee, milk and juices. Easy check in/out process.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
Great location, quiet area, just what you want to enjoy when visiting Iceland. We stayed in a house with 3 rooms of which we used 2 with 5 persons. The kitchen, dining area and living room are small but cosy. Do not expect luxury but authenticity.
The location was perfect for us. It was in a beautiful area and very quiet. The house was very clean and well maintained . The hostess was very kind and made herself available for any questions. I would stay again.
The hosts are very friendly and the guesthouse is lovely. We were the only guests outside of the season, but they cooked espacially for us. The rooms are clean and you can see the polar lights from this spot
I was on a two-week trip to Iceland with my dad. We stayed in The Castle Guesthouse's "Double or Twin Room with Shared Bathroom" for just one night as it was one of the stops on our round trip. Despite the short stay, we enjoyed every second of it. The room (with sea views!), showers, and kitchenette were all neat and clean. The host, Skjöldur, was very friendly and helpful. If I ever return to the northwest of Iceland, I will certainly choose The Castle Guesthouse. :)
A comfortable basic pension. Clean, small rooms with bathroom. Breakfast was very tasty, a good choice of bread, skyr, yoghurt, meat etc. Good coffee. Very nice personnel. The guesthouse is remotely located and the is no grocery store nearby, one need to take it into consideration.
Everything you need you'll find at Gil guesthouse!
Our room was large with a fridge, kettle, cutlery and crockery. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was amazing (one of the few opportunities you'll have to eat vegetables in Iceland, take it).
There is also a restaurant which is helpful if you don't want to drive around after a long day exploring the Westfjords, all reasonably priced.
Very comfortable guesthouse in quiet place near the sea. Our host were great. Beds and pillows were amazing.
