Helga and Dagur were wonderful! Our room in their guesthouse was spotless and comfortable. Helga gave us spot-on advice about winter hiking options and the best places to see the northern lights, which we were able to see for the first time on our trip. Dagur even got staff to open the Herring Museum (closed in winter) for us and accompanied us there. We hope to return again sometime.

had a flat tire and the owner answered our calls every time with politeness and efficiency.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
Very spacious and comfortable apartment with great facilities and friendly host. Kitchen very well equipped. We stayed one night en route but wish we could have stayed longer. The apartment deserves it!
Second stay at this hotel which is one of my favourite places in Iceland. Lovely rooms and great facilities including the outdoor hot pool and sauna. This visit we paid a bit extra for a room facing the harbour but have also stayed in the rooms facing inland and the fishing boat which are equally good. Prices are not cheap but worth it.
On the first day of our stay there was a cross country skiing competition so the hotel was busy, but still very quiet in the rooms and a great nights sleep.
A lovely part of Iceland. Very nice hosts. The outside cabin was very comfortable and self contained. Even the outside shower was quaint! The price though is somewhat too much, even for Iceland
The host of the guesthouse is very very kind, super informative and great man! The location is good as it near by the sea, you can capture great photos if Aurora is there. The guesthouse is full of art painting and creations, its just like staying in a movie set.
Cute guesthouse with a lovely host. We were the only guests there that night so it made it easier to grab a shower and use the loo in the middle of the night! Hosts put out free chocolate which we didn’t eat but appreciated. No-fuss stay with privacy and great facilities. Place also has free-to-use washer and dryer
We had a wonderful stay at the Herring House. The cabin is super cozy and well equipped for our stay. The bed was one of the most comfortable of our two weeks traveling around Iceland. We also enjoyed the hot tub and outdoor shower despite the weather! Dagur was a great host, highly recommended 🎖
