Location was amazing, remote but not hard to reach. The conditions were right and the clouds cleared up for some amazing views of the northern lights! The breakfast was beyond amazing and the best we had at a hotel/hostel/airbnb on our entire 2 week trip. Would definitely stay here again if were ever back in the area!
The family-run Vogafjos Guesthouse is in a unique natural environment on the eastern shore of Lake Myvatn. It has rooms with a patio and free Wi-Fi.

Room was perfect--cozy and cabin-like. (Geothermal heat, so VERY warm!) We loved waking up early to watch the cows being milked--the farm staff were friendly and happy to talk through the process, and I loved being able to pet the cows! Included breakfast was good value. Highly recommend making the short trip to the Myvatn Thermal Pools--it was our favorite lagoon experience of the trip.

Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
What a wonderful location. The view from the restaurant is mesmerising. The people that run the Guest house are super friendly and helpful. The host took time to give. lots of good advice on places to visit when I enquired. I had the lamb dinner, which was excellent and breakfast was good too. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. At the price it is hard to fault.
The guesthouse is away from the road and any city, so it would be a perfect location for watching aurora borealis. The rooms were cosy, warm and clean. The facilities had everything that we needed. The breakfast was delicious. They even offer lava bread and other homemade bread. A special treat were the waffles that you can prepare for yourself.
All in all a realy pleasant stay.
The house was a little remote, 35 km from the nearest grocery store. The host was very friendly and available. When she learnt we need to buy eggs, she gave eggs to us and saved us a long drive for grocery. The house was clean and well maintained. It is a beautiful area.
Rural setting. Quiet and comfortable Very good trout dinner. Breakfast included, which is good as it's about a 20 min drive from the nearest eating place. There's not many food options in the nearby small villages.
