Buffet breakfast was good, and dinner was great - both not included in the price for the rooms but relatively good value (especially breakfast). The hot water in the bath downstairs is onsen water which is brilliant after the slopes.

Location perfect, close to the bus station and convenient store, the room is clean and new, everything is new and comfortable, if I go back to Hakuba in future, I definitely consider this place first.
Just 10 minutes from JR Hakuba Train Station on the free shuttle(14:30-21:00), Hakuba Skala Inn features a cosy lounge with a library, a bar and a wood-burning stove.

Absolutely loved our stay at Skala! This family-run inn is managed by a wonderful couple, Osamu and Asako. The rooms are clean and good sized, and the location is great — a 10-min walk to the main street of Echoland, with a shuttle bus stop conveniently right outside. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast spread every morning.
We visited Hakuba for a few days of snowboarding and were fortunate to arrive at a time when pick-up could be arranged. Since we hadn’t rented our gear yet, Osamu kindly drove us to the rental shop on the way to the inn. They even handled the gear returns for us, which was a huge convenience—no need to lug our equipment around or walk long distances in heavy boots. There's also a basement storage area to dry gear after a day on the slopes.
After a day of snowboarding, it was nice to unwind in the cozy lounge with a beer by the fireplace or relaxing in the massage chair.
Osamu and Asako went above and beyond to assist us multiple times during our stay, including arranging a ride to the bus station when we couldn’t get an Uber and helping me get my phone back after I left it on the shuttle bus. They put their hearts into running this place, and it shows in their warmth and hospitality. Thank you Osamu and Asako!
Highly recommend Skala, and we would definitely stay here again!

Amazing place to stay on a week long trip to Hakuba. We traveled in the beginning of spring so the season was almost over, but we really enjoyed the hotel's onsen which was an incredible added value after the day of snowboarding!

The house was cute and super homey, there was always a fire on and the staff created a relaxing atmosphere. The hostess was amazing, super helpful picking us up from the bus station and dropping us back on our last day. She was very friendly and great to chat too.
Shuttles to all major ski slopes were ~5 minute walk away.

The most comfortable bed ever. (Possibly the best bed I've ever had at any accommodation.)
The house has everything you need. The interior is very practical oriented.
Good location for ski resorts (the V line bus goes pretty much everywhere from Hakuba train station, train station is walking distance).
There were free noodles, tangerines, coffee, and tea in the kitchen.
Nice owner, gave me a lift to the station when I departed.
Not a party house, all guests were super friendly and respectful.
10/10 would stay here again.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
"The Flying House Accommodation Experience: A haven of fantastic Comfort"
Staying in this homestay is a pleasant experience! The courtyard is very large and private, the wooden interior is warm and clean, and the bed is comfortable. The location is very convenient, there is a bus stop at the intersection, very close, convenient transportation. There is a ski rental shop right next to the bus stop which is very convenient
The host was warm and professional. Highly recommend this homestay to everyone
