we loved our stay there. The guest house is a traditional Japanese house with futons. Staff could not be more friendly and helpful.
We used the hot bath, dressed with Japanese bath robes the experience was great.

This was a great find. The owners were lovely and incredibly helpful.
The rooms were spacious, clean, well equipped, and contained everything we needed to have a very enjoyable stay.
The location was ideal for us, especially as we had a hire car and were able to park outside the hotel.
There are quite a few very good restaurants in walking distance.
If definitely stay there again.

Nice hostel with private onsens for use. We found the mats slightly uncomfortable and room cold overnight

The property is so close to Gora station which is a starting point for the cable car ride to lake Ashi and there is a free bus to Pola art gallery . It has ensens nearby and a cafe across the road. Restaurants do close early in this area and many places were shut Tues night . The rooms are gorgeous warm and comfortable and the view from the roof of the mountains is lovely. It has steps and no lift but the host helped us with our luggage .the convenience of this place to gora station was great . The view from our room was lovely .

Cheap hostel, well located, pleasant staff. Comfortable if a little too small dormitory room
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
This hotel has one of the most charming interiors I've ever seen. It was extremely cute and cozy. It is also in a great location, and it was very easy to walk to the street with a variety of shops and places to eat. I also loved the breakfast!
Very charming guesthouse, it was great to have access to an onsen for such a cheap place. Surprised by how good the amenities were too, lots of bathroom products available and even a hair straightener. The bar/restaurant was simple and cosy, great for easy access food and drink. Lovely vibe to the place and adorable dog.
If you visit Japan and dont come to Hakone you are missing out and the best place to stay is definetly Root Hakone. Superb hosts, great location, charming setting and a really great whiskey bar.
Great location and lovely to have room to spread out. The air con was nice and cool in the humid summer heat. A quiet little neighbourhood. Excellent communication with the host, thank you.
Just to note, if you have bags you may wish to get a taxi from the train station, as there is a steep uphill part of the walk there. We found the walk fine without bags and very picturesque as you walk across two bridges over the rivers.
We had a fantastic stay at Hakone Guesthouse. The host was incredibly lovely and offered to drive us to Hakone Gora Park on our first day. The host also spoke very good English.
The rooms were capsule-style and very clean. The other guests were very quiet and respectful.
The location was fairly convenient - a 30 minute walk to Gora Station and close by buses that are serviced by the Hakone Free Pass.
great location, cheap beer, very cute little cabins and loved that the hostel was so quiet and everyone was super respectful. wouldnt have even known there were others sleeping in the same room!
The double bed capsule was super spacious and really cheap at under 20£ a night. The hostel staff were very friendly and helpful in answering all my questions about sightseeing. Nice and quiet at night and free tea and coffee was a bonus!
I love this little guest house. It was right very close to one of the best modern sushi restaurants I've been to. The host was amazingly helpful and very very friendly. It's quite small but it's very quaint and cute. The room is quite big though for what we needed. It is Japanese style so beds on the floor which were comfy and warm.
The host was a very nice, smiley and kind person. She was very clear and punctual in the explanations about the stay, and she was also giving me many advices on what to visit in Hakone. Her hostel is a lovely, traditional guest house. I felt like in one of those Japanese movies that I was watching when I was little. It was also super clean and cozy. Kana also offers hot/cold free drinks, and a fridge to leave your stuff. The neighbours is quiet and peaceful. I totally recommend!
