My stay was fantastic and the staff were brilliant. I lost my purse on the train to togari and the owner was so accommodating, she went above and beyond to help me until I got it back. The hotel was warm; the bathroom, shower room, and onsen were all cleaned daily. The breakfast was large and tasty (perfect for a day of skiing). The hotel is a 2 minute walk from the slopes and a 3 minute walk from the bus stop, so good location.

Staff were amazing, great value for money and great location. Service was awesome. Building was dated and could do with some extra cleaning. Had a great stay and would come back.

I had my expectations set really low after reading some of the reviews here, but we were limited on options after our Nozawa onsen accommodations fell through. I was really pleasantly surprised tho at how friendly the woman owner was. She had limited English but used the translator on her phone and was very animated and full of fun expression. If you have stayed in a private Japanese ski lodge, this is exactly how it is - empty rooms with futons, shared bathrooms and sink. Everything was clean, and while there were other guests staying, we didn't have an issue having to wait for a shower or bathroom. The room was warm and there was a heater in the hallway also. The owners own the Korean restaurant below so when you check in or if you have questions, you just pop in there to see them.
The bus for nozawa onsen is literally at their front door. There is also a seven11 across the road.

The room was comfortable with a fold out futon. The heater worked very well , but I hardly had to use it. Miki the host was very friendly and helpful She is also an excellent cook. Breakfast and dinner were always very nice and good value.
The hot bath downstairs was very nice and relaxing after a day of skiing.
The location of the lodge is very convenient, max 200 m to the ski area.
If I ever come back to Togari Onsen, I will be very happy to stay here again

Very clean and close to ski slopes.
The free to use rubber boots are nice as well if you don't have any snow boots.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Abby and Mark were great hosts! Breakfast was amazing and all of Abby's cooking was delightful. Abby was very helpful in suggesting things for us to do on days we didn't ski.
The management was very lovely and helpful. They handled our ski lift pass with better price. Some facilites were refurnished couple of months ago, some shower has been added. Big shout out for Olivier who was a great host.
We stayed in a 2-bedroom lodge in a quiet part of Madarao. The accommodation was warm and cosy. And my kids loved sharing their cute mezzanine bedroom.
What really made the trip for us was the incredible, warm staff. Every evening, we’d hop across to the central lodge (You can get food, drinks, and entertainment there)… and the hosts made us feel like family.
We’ll be back next year!
Ringo Jam is a small, boutique hotel with comfortable beds, spacious rooms and very well maintained facilities.
Pete is a generous host, driving us the 5 mins to the ski lift, organising our passes and also taking us out of town to the best Onsen and local restaurant.
The place is warm and also has its own mini onsen downstairs.
Nothing to dislike about this place great location, great food, great hosts.
Rooms were comfortable, facilities were excellent, we will be back again next season.
Very good breakfast and delicious dinner. The scenery is good but location is a bit remote and far from town. It is a quiet place and can ski in and out. Friendly hosts and arrange free shuttle from nearby station.
