Atsuko is a superb host. From dinner booking, comfortable beds, a good breakfast, a bonus trip to the local shrine, and a trip to Lawsons... a perfect stay. The guest house is close to the bike route and a good midpoint on the ride. Highly recommended

The generosity of the hosts. Mandarin juice on arrival, and they drove us to the cherry blossom display at the top of a mountain. It was too steep to ride! Perfect location on the Shiminami Kaido with incredible sunset view.

The grandma who came to greet me was very sweet, explaining the logistics clearly. The futon in my room was extremely comfortable, and my dinner and breakfast set meals there were incredible. The evening staff Yuuki came and had a chat with me and a fellow guest and I was glad to be able to practise my subpar Japanese 😄 I also had a very fragrant cup of hand drip coffee made by the morning staff Miwa, whom I later learnt works at Overview coffee in Ikuchijima!

Our host was very friendly and helpful. We arrived after 30km bicycling in pouring rain and she helped us wash and dry our clothes as well as made us feel home and welcomed. Both dinner and breakfast was included in the price and was very well prepared and tasty. Thanks for a lovely stay

Had an amazing experience! The guesthouse is located in a beautiful location at the foothills of some mountains on Yuge island. It's quiet but restaurants and convenience store are easily accessible by bike. Was truly a unique experience. Koji was also an excellent host. Would strongly recommend!

The owner Leo was very lovely and welcoming. He checked me in nice and easy, showed me around the hostel and then presented me with some maps that gave information on local restaurants and what time they close etc. I don’t speak Japanese and his English was really good, which was lovely. He also answered any questions that I had about how to say things in Japanese!
His cat is lovely but seems to be quite shy. To be honest, this is what I’ve experienced with most Japanese cats 😉.
Thanks Leo!

Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
