What a great guest house.
Located at the south end of town at end of a very quiet street next to a temple, the guest house is a beautifully maintained single story house in a traditional style, including tatami rooms for sleeping and relaxing. There's a kitchen with everything you need to prepare meals (we did), and the bathroom is well-appointed.
Best of all, the manager is the absolutely nicest man. He offered to pick us up from the train station, showed us the town, and then got us settled in the guest house. When we told him we were in Kushimoto to visit the grave of an old family friend he said that he would drive us there and then to the train station. We felt very taken care of and very welcomed.

The property is located in a quiet neighborhood within five minute walk from JR Koza station. Restaurants and supermarkets are just in walking distance. We stayed in the economy double room from Dec 21 to Dec 25, which was clean and comfortable for two people. The kitchen was fully equipped with an induction oven. It was easy to go to the neighborhood supermarket to shop groceries and food stuffs and bring back to cook. The bathroom was clean coming with a hot tub and the water steam was hot and powerful. The parking lot is spacious, easy for an SUV to get in.
JR Koza is a station where local and express trains both stop here. It is easy to get on a train from here to either Kii-Tanabe or to Shingu to enjoy the entire Kii peninsula. When we stayed here, we took JR and bus to get to Kumano Koto for the trails to Hayatama Taisha and Nachi Taisha.

The host was EXTREMELY kind and accommodating. I got confused about forwarding my luggage during my trek along the Kumano Kodo and so found out last minute I would need to carry my trekking stuff and forward my luggage to the end of the trail. Welp! In my scramble to barely make my bus, I accidentally put the address of the following night’s accomodations, a town away. The host actually got my bag for me, and brought me some food, as I think she could tell I was cold, tired and hungry. She was all around very kind, even with my broken Japanese. The room was comfortable, with heating and a small table. There was a good shower, laundry, and the kitchen set up was really nice when I was too tired to trek all the way to the restaurants in town that night. It was a really great price, and very close to bus stop from Kumano-Nachi Taisha.

We were greeted very warmly! The guesthouse is right by the station and offered everything we needed. The private onsen was a nice touch after finishing our trek. The rooms are basic and there are vending machines and water refills.
Offering garden views, 町中ステイ 宗ハウス in Nachikatsuura provides accommodations, a garden, and a terrace.

Very nice stay at this guest house in a typical Japanese room.
The host is very nice and arranging, available next door if needed.
The city isn't so big so everything is walking-distance accessible, and there is a bus heading to Nachi falls next to the station.

Lovely place and lovely town.
The house is charming and the room big enough and nice.
Facilities are great, kitchen is fully equipped and you can cook without a problem.
You have oils, sauces , spices and others basics so you don't have to worry, a really nice point.
The lady from staff is great explaining things, also in English so great on that.
It was a really nice experience!
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
A laid-back and quiet place with everything we needed. The room was comfortable with nice thick futons and everything was very clean. No meals provided at Fukurou but there was a microwave available, and a kettle provided in the room. A taxi from Kushimoto station cost 2000 yen. There's a bus service but a limited timetable, so make sure to check the times. We enjoyed being out in the backblocks and walking into Kushimoto. We did a snorkelling tour with ARK diving, which was excellent.
This ground floor house is in a very quiet area next door to a Shrine about 12 mins walk south of Shirahama station on flat roads.
The house is lovely - staying here is a beautiful way to experience modern Japanese living.
Large bedroom for two people with comfortable futon beds. Living room plus lounge room and large kitchen. Laundry and bathroom are down one end and very private.
The owner is a lovely man who was happy to pick us up upon arrival and show us around the house.
Perfect stay for us in Kushimoto! Japanese style home was huge and could easily accomodate a large family, fully equipped with all the amenities (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom). Not forgetting that owner is extremely hospitable as well. Would not hesitate to choose Guesthouse Mori again when visiting Kushimoto
The host - he’s kind, friendly and attended to my needs, helped me to sort out dinner, he literally saved me that night
Facilities - they were clean and comfortable
Tidy hotel, very nice and helpful staff. Great location. The view from the room is unforgetable. The concept of open self-dinning area where you can bring in your own meal and get coffee is convenient and pleasant. Perfect.
Everthing was perfect for me, Miki was very helpful and friendly, the bathroom was wonderful after hiking, toilet and bedroom as well clean and tidy. There is a supermarket nearby and I could use the big kitchen that was well equipped. The village was good to reach but quiet. Very recommendable!
