Our stay at Kyo Anthu Inn was nothing short of perfect! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and kindness by Emiko, making us feel at home right away. The rooms were immaculate, , and provided a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring.
The homemade breakfast was a highlight—fresh, delicious, and thoughtfully prepared. Emiko and her mom Yoko went above and beyond to help us navigate the city, offering fantastic recommendations and helping us with reservations for local restaurants.
The location was ideal, tucked away in a quiet neighborhood yet conveniently close to public transportation and major attractions like Fushimi Inari and Kiyomizu-dera. After a long day of touring Kyoto, coming back to this cozy and welcoming place felt like returning to a home away from home.
Emiko and her father drove us to a restaurant and later to the Kyoto train station on the morning we left the city. She even walked us to the subway station on our first day out in the city.
If you’re looking for an authentic, warm, and memorable Kyoto experience, Emikos place is an absolute gem. We can’t wait to return!

I slept better here than I do at my own home; it's just that cozy. As others have stated more eloquently, Morio and his wife are incredibly hospitable and cognizant of the most minor of details. This ryokan has the sort of charm that I thought could only be found in rural Japan these days.

We traveled around Japan for a month, and this was one of the best places we stayed. It’s in a great location for exploring Arashiyama. The room was clean and cozy with comfortable futons. The host was so kind and even left coffee and snacks as a gift. Highly recommend!

Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
Everything we needed in a quiet neighbourhood. Modern and well equipped apartment with comfortable beds. Non-touristy area. Charming back pathway well away from cars and noise but short walking distance to a local grocery store, cafe's and the train station. Really great central location for day trips around Kyoto. Lovely hosts. Great value.
The room was small but really nice, and nice experience. The showers/toilets were great (female only floor). It was cheap for the great location and some privacy (over a hostel).
Tani house is a guest house with a great and quite long history. Tani San is a charming lady, who keeps house in a very good condition. She kindly hosted us in her cozy place. And next morning provided us with delicious and generous breakfast. We are grateful for that expiration. Wish Tani San be well, healthy and fool of energy for continuing her work.
Lovely boutique accommodation - clean, warm, cosy and quiet.
Very polite and attentive hosts. Niko is very helpful.
Good breakfast. Love the bagels and scones.
Great location - convenient for bus and metro transportation, eateries and shopping.
It is a family run b&b with taking good care by the hosts who have put years of energy and passion into making this place so cozy, beautiful and feel at home. Breakfast comes with home-made everything which is delicate, delicious and satisfying. Great location with quiet and chill neighbourhood which is only 5mins walk from the station and close to city centre. So grateful we have chosen this place to stay.
