We have stayed at the Guesthouse many times, but this is our first time staying in the smaller quad room. It was a little tight for a family of four, but the loft makes it work and there was still plenty of room for all of us and our luggage.

I liked how there was open spaces and cafe at the bottom of the room. I got to enjoy meaningful conversation with the owners and they were very nice. They are also very excited and proud of their property which is noticeable by the way they renovate and decorate the area.

This was a very charming guesthouse and the hosts were just delightful. We were very impressed with the size of the room (enormous, by Japanese standards). Everything was impeccable.

The location and owners make this homestay special. The latter is at the foot of a historic and important Buddhist shrine and resting place of Kato Kiyomasa, builder of the Kumamoto Castle, while the former are generations-old family of soba makers. While breakfast didn't come with soba, it was one of the best I've eaten in Japan.
The space is comfortable, traditional and has everything you may need, including excellent views of the city.
