Yoko and her husband are two of the loveliest people to grace planet earth. The greeted us by waiving from their garden as we drove up, and then made every effort to make sure we felt very welcome. Yoko talked with our son, who is studying Japanese, and learned that he likes donuts and pancakes. The next morning she prepared a wonderful breakfast for us, including freshly made donuts. Her husband gave our kids action figures to have and play with afterward. We enjoyed Toyama and Gokayama, and then when coming back, Yoko had made us some fresh sushi, which was so so good.
The space was nice and well appointed.
It was very nice to have a car when staying here, and I think that it's the best way to do this area.
We highly recommend, especially if you are a family of 4 or so! :)

Great place to stay in Toyama. Maybe a tad pricey for a dorm bunk bed, but still nice facilities. They have a HUGE board game collection and tons of manga! It's about a 15-20 minute walk from Toyama station, but not bad.

Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
The place truly felt like an authentic Japanese traditional inn experience with an excellent host taking care of us. We felt very welcomed, and the meals prepared were exceptional. The shared bathroom was clean and well-kept, and the WiFi was exceptionally fast at 150 Mbps.
Traditional ryokan experience with tatami rooms and onsen.
The hosts do not speak English so it was quite interesting to speak using mobile translators (but everything was OK ;)). The woman was really nice and warmcharming.
We had really nice and big room with view to garden with small pond and fish.
Onsen - bath - was also a great experience and there was noone! Just relax and calm.
The location was also good - close to Takaoka station.
In a small city it’s close to the train station and local tourist spots. The hosts were very welcoming and kind and did their very best to make our stay comfortable. If you’re looking for authentic Japanese hospitality, look no further.
charming Ryokan with very helpful and welcoming hosts. the room was super clean and vast with a view on a pond. all the facilities allowed us to have a great stay. the Japanese breakfast was tasty and healthy.
Comfortable genuine Japanese ryokan inn close to the Daibutsu Giant Buddha and on the city heritage trail. Quiet old world charm. Lovely gracious owner and family who were very attentive. Large traditional room with Koi carp pond outside the window. Very clean shared WC and Onsen facilities. Japanese breakfast served in private dining room was very carefully prepared. The kind owner accommodated our need to leave very early on last day.
The staff is nice and helpful. Dormitory bed is chose, but the shared room is spacious than other hostels. Also, the bed is comfortable. The common area is well decorated and you can talk with the room rate. read various magazines about hiking and Japanese comics~~
The hotel is located well and very close to the Buddha. The host is very nice and friendly. They help me to put the large luggage in the room. Similar to traditional Japanese inn, a hot tub is equipped in the bath room for your relaxation after shower. The dinner and breakfast from the inn contains various in-season seafood which is very delicious and large size. Recommend to stay there to experience their hospitality if you visit in Takaoka.
Very charming ryokan, the owners make you feel at home.
Excellent meals (breakfast and dinner).
