I had a lovely stay at Ichie café, the traditional house is old yet gorgeous, with a view on a wonderful Japanese garden. The walls are of course quite thin, hopefully, the place only has two rooms so the noise is kept to a minimum. I had the nice surprise of discovering Ichie café baked fresh chiffon cakes and packed it so we could take them with us on our way to Kumano kodo. And it was delicious!! Thanks again, I would easily come back !

One of the best places I’ve stayed in a long, long time Guesthouse is beautiful, very comfortable and extremely well-designed Owners are very friendly, welcoming and attentive. All the little details are taken care of - whether it’s the little spoons for stirring your coffee, or the olives served alongside dinner, or the thicker toilet paper (so many places in Japan use 1-ply!), or the yukata jacket provided because it was so cold. Or the fact they make an effort to cater to guests’ dietary requests, AND serve a Western-style meal for dinner because they know after many days in Japan, foreign guests might want something a bit more familiar to their palate. Just such a thoughtful place all around

Such a lovely host! We were greeted with tea after a long day hiking. The dinner and breakfast prepared for us was such an amazing feast. Really close to the bus stop and from the general kumano trail. The room was modern, bright, and cosy. Very quiet and peaceful too. Would highly recommend

The cozy cabin is well equipped with a small kitchen and big fridge. It has 24 hrs video reception, fire pit and top balcony. Supermarket is right across the street. Bus stop is 5 mins walk. Everything is good. For those who are coming to Komanokodo for the first time, remember that some bus only runs two or three times a day, please plan your schedule wisely or you might lose a lot of time waiting.
