Wonderful stay with a truly unique experience. The host was lovely and warm, and a professional folk dancer/singer. She gave us a performance which was a highlight of our time in Japan. She also has the most adorable dog, Chiro, who made us laugh and smile.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
Just in love with this hostel and place 🙏 Arrived here by bike and spent 3 days / 4 nights. Warm welcome from the ladies, great breakfast, typical diner for an extra 1000 yens. We were not a lot of guests so alone in my dormitory, plenty of space to chill on rainy days. Lake, temple, gorge, apple pie coffe all is calm and beautiful around !
I think it’s the most beautiful and charming hotel we stayed at so far! The rooms and onsen are just stunning, traditional looking but extremely clean and well maintained. The women’s bath is incredible, very high ceiling and you get the impression to go back in time a few centuries.
The staff was exceptional, making us feel very welcome and comfortable, so friendly and helpful. The food was michelin standard, and the ryokan is basically in the middle of a beautiful forest - everything was perfect!! Thank you so much!
worst hostel ever, i have never seen any room like that before
I have to call other hotel and stay in other hotel
i m not rich but just cannot sleep in that room, avoid twin room in the first floor- nightmare
The interior is a little dated and the rooms a bit retro, but it is very quiet, inexpensive, has beautiful surroundings, and a great selection of onsen. In the evening I used the outdoor onsen and enjoyed the full moon. The next morning I used the indoor and met some friendly locals.
This place has an amazing spirit and was such a happy place to stay. The staff are wonderful and I met some really friendly and interesting fellow guests here. The meal available of the traditional barayaki was one of my favourite meal experiences in 3 weeks travel in Japan. And to be able to access the amazing onsen/ rotenboru at the hotel next door for hardly any money at all (¥300 or ¥500 , I forget which) is an incredible bonus. Great location too! ありがとうございました!
This place has a lot of character and very comfortable and cozy. The dining area is overall a great place to unwind, watch a little tv. Dinner was wonderful and breakfast was good. There’s an onsen hotel a couple minutes walk from the guesthouse where for 500 yen you can try the indoor and outdoor onsen. This is a backpackers guesthouse and for what it is, I had a great experience
Lovely guesthouse in a very small lakeside town. You cannot find this cheap but nice acommodations in this type of town usually. Very big parking space and 2 kitchens, laundry.
Great location near Lake Towada and Oirase Gorge and 10 min walk to JR bus station, beds comfortable and clean, good facilities, felt like a large comfortable family home, awesome hosts who looked after us so well, home cooked meals, beautiful outdoor bonsai garden,
