We absolutely enjoyed our stay here. Saman and his wife did everything and more to make our stay comfortable. Their food is great, breakfast in the balcony with a beautiful view is the highlight of this homestay. They arranged for a tuktuk to take us around the area and the tuktuk driver was very knowledgeable and showed us a lot of places. Don't miss an early morning walk through the tea gardens just above the homestay. Saman also helped us get train tickets to Ella which was a very difficult task considering that all tickets get sold within seconds. It was because of him that we could experience the spectacular train route! They were very warm towards our 6 yr old daughter and overall made us feel very welcome. There is a bit of climbing involved though - very typical of hill stations and nothing that a regular, averagely fit person cannot negotiate.

The location is just wow!
Nanuoya is a very small village with moderate accmodation option. We did not except a lot facilities from this stay. But we enjoyed our stay here. It is very close to Gassgauh Waterfall and tea estate. I loved the waterfall so much. The location is serene with a mountain stream in front and tea garden at the backdrop.
The breakfast was large and very delicious. We had our dinner too & it was also very tasty. Best meals we had in Srilanka. The owner and his wife are very cordial. They offered us welcome tea and snack. He went to the market to bring milk as we were asking if they can provide milk tea. I find this is very generous of him.

The location is phenomenal! The building has so many windows and French doors, it gets a lot of natural light. There are private balconies in the rooms; however what really spoke to me are the airy livingrooms and varendas on each floor.
If you wake up early you can catch stunning pink dawn and orange sunrise.
They grow some of their own vegetables and they are tasty.

We got a cute spacious bedroom with large windows (all with curtains) and a small deck overlooking the tea hills, bed and pillows were comfy with cozy blanket. No issues with mosquitoes as long as windows are shut. Bathroom was modern and clean, and it is in a quiet spot. The host even let us keep our bags locked in the room past checkout as we were going to hike and come back that afternoon.

This place is truly wonderful. The house itself is beautifully designed and built. You can tell that a lot of care went into it, and everything feels high-quality and comfortable. The garden is incredibly peaceful, and the natural spring is just magical.
The beds are super comfortable, and the rooms and the entire house are as clean as a 5-star hotel. There's a really nice atmosphere about the whole place.
The location is great too. It's quiet and relaxing, but it's also only a 10-15 minute walk to the train station and downtown Hatton.
Nana, the owner and host, is fantastic. He used to play on the Sri Lankan national football team, which makes for great stories. He's really welcoming and makes you feel at home, but he also knows when to give you space. The food he cooks is delicious, and he always gives generous portions. He's a really interesting and fun person to talk to.
He's happy to help you with anything you need and really looks out for his guests. He's also a trained physical therapist, so he gave me a great massage. After a few days hiking the Pekoe Trail, it was exactly what I needed.
If you're hiking Adam's Peak, he even packs a lunch for you.
I don't usually write reviews like this, but I honestly can't recommend Ulpatha enough. The house itself is easily a 10, and Nana's hospitality makes it even better. I wish I could give it 20 stars! If you're looking for a place to stay in this area, you should definitely consider Ulpatha.
