Room was super clean, very large and the shower was great. The hotel organised a dinner for us which was really nice and we also went on the safari tour with the hotel. The guide was great, the jeep was comfy and the experience was really enjoyable.

We highly enjoyed our stay at Hasthi Safari Cottage. The rooms were amazing little bungalows with great outdoor showers. It was very clean and comfortable and had air conditioning. The dining area was a cute little hut that felt like you were right in the middle of a safari. We were able to get washing done and a delicious Sri Lankan dinner and breakfast organised through the accomodation. Dasun was a very friendly and accomodating host.
We also organised a safari through Hasthi’s and I would highly recommend them for one. Their driver was very experienced and attended to a tense moment in the safari extremely well and confidently. He also had a very good eye for wildlife and took us away from any crowds. We were very pleased to have him as our driver.

Delicious breakfast, a kind and helpful host, and an incredibly well-organized, professional safari! The room itself was of high standard, equipped with a kettle, coffee, tea, and water, all at such an affordable price! The air conditioning was outstanding. The surroundings of the house, with a well-kept garden full of greenery, were delightful.

This is one of the must beautiful Accomodations i've ever been to. But not only the place itself, also the host was extraordinary.
When we arrived at the Gates he greeted us and led us trough this elephant themed paradise to the front desk, where we were seated on sitting bags and given mango-banana-smoothies.
He sat down with us and went trough the plans for our stay. At first we thought that he wanted to sell us something or make us go on some tour organized by him, but it was just his plain professionalism, trying to organize plans to make us spend our time the best way.
We even double checked the price we would pay, because we could not believe that low price!
While we unpacked our stuff, he even brought some cake for us to enjoy.
Unfortunately we could not try the (according to the reviews) great dinner, because the restaurant was closed during our short stay. There were only two rooms, so we were the only guests. 10 minutes walk to elephant Transit home, same street. Room had a terrasse with lounge-furniture. A living room including all you could wish for (foot-massage-device, yoga-mattress, games, working desk,...).
Bedroom both AC and Ventilator, wichever you prefer. Next, the spectecular bathroom with natural shower. All shining clean an made of wood/stone/nature materials (even plastic bottles in wooden covers). Everything thought through to the smallest of Details, perfectly arranged.
The whole place looks like all work has been done, but the host still plans to ad a swimming Pool and elephant themed cottages so he can house more guests.
When we left, we even got a parting gift!
Even more, he also contacted us after we arrived at our next destination to see if we were well.
Long Story short, there is only one place to spend a few days in udawalawe: the elephant next door.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Friendly and beautifully run guest house perfect for visiting Udawalawe. Nature House surpassed our expectations - the terrace outside our room over looking the jungle was a real highlight as was the tasty curry buffet and breakfast. The owner and his son were great hosts and we would recommend this to anyone. They have a pool finished in 2 weeks too so will be even more of a top place to stay soon!
Perfect location - 5 minutes from national park entrance.
great host who really wants his guests to feel welcomed and taken care of.
The food was fantastic, the pool was clean and there were not so many people staying there at that time,so it was quiet.
Plus thing: there is one elephant coming really close to the hotel to feed,so you can see him from 1 meter distance :)
Huge room, very quiet at night. No mosquitos. Room has even hand towel, which is rare in Sri Lanka. Big balcony. Great location. Very friendly hosts. Breakfast is huge and very tasty juices from the fruits from their own garden.
Great location! Close to the elephant transit home 15 minute walk. Great host who offered me a cup of tea when i got back and some good conversation as well. Managed to set up Safari for me with top driver Suresh. Knowledgeable driver who had a crazy good eye for all animals. Breakfast was the best i had in Sri Lanka.
Great host from the family.
Great location for center and elephant orphanage.
Both within walking distance.
Lakmal runs his own safari around the reserve at a good price, very knowledgeable and showed us lots of elephants.🐘♥️
