Odelba was so welcoming - “my casa is your casa” she said as she gave us a cool welcome drink. Beautiful setting, chill out on the hammocks, rooms are basic but good for the $$, a lovely natural spring 10 mins walk from the house. Odelba happily organised transport etc for us. We loved our time here!

Great shared spaces, the lake is accessible right at the back of the property for a fresh swim with locals, the staff are really friendly and helpful and have food, scooters, etc on offer for reasonable price. Balgue was a great location for tranquility but proximity to attractions of Ometepe. Cute dogs :) good value for money.

Super friendly hosts, good communication and very responsive. Got out of their way to help me get a scooter, let me use their kitchen to cook for my dog, use their fridge to store food and even treated me with a few complimentary (and delicious) breakfast. Great location, secluded in banana plantations and a feel of jungle, with gorgeous views to one of the volcanos - and yet still close to restaurants and more busy areas. Safe for a single solo traveler. The outside area is really cute; they offer a small space where you can hand wash your clothes. The room is very simple but quite spacious, with direct sunlight and with a hammock just outside of the room. Bed is comfortable, and having a table is quite handy. Drinking water is available (which is a really nice touch).
Allow dogs. I really enjoyed the quietness and tranquility of the space; I highly recommend it and I will definitely go back if in Ometepe again.

We stayed here for four nights and had a really good experience. It’s a bit off-grid, but the neighborhood is very safe, and the hostess is incredibly kind! There were some ants in the room in the evening because they could come under the door, but they are working on that and it’s wasn’t really a bother because it’s not during the day or night. Our room had a fan and a private bathroom. We were also able to use the laundry area in the back. The food was delicious, we had both breakfast and dinner here, and it was very affordable and delicious. You can rent a scooter, but we got around by bus. The location is close to Charco Verde and Ojo de Agua, but quite far from Playa Mangos and El Pital. If you don’t want to rent a scooter like us, we’d recommend taking a tuk-tuk for those places. May (the hostess) even taught me some Spanish words and phrases and explained everything about the island. She is truly so sweet!

The room was very clean and quite cheap.
The staff Hostal Rancho was super nice. We felt really welcomed and home there.
Also the small town of Altagracia was a very nice surprise! It is very cute and idyllic.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
It's a family-run Hostel/Homestay with very friendly owners. Super cool and very authentic, located in the jungle where you have screaming monkeys in the morning and fireflies in the evening. Amazing view over Concepción volcano. You can eat here or at Comedor Cristina 300m north fairly cheap. Tap water is drinkable. It's pretty quiet and not as frequented as other parts of the island. Showers and toilets are in the rooms, just as fans and power plugs. It's near to San Ramón waterfall and Maderas hiking trail.
Family-run business, extraordinarily friendly and helpful, beautiful location off the grid, very quiet, great view, superb (and very fresh and made from scratch) food..
I had an amazing time, all the staff were so nice, the location is beautiful! Wish I had had more time to extend my stay!
The hospitality of the hosts was really incredible. They -and their entire staff- made you feel right at home. Thanks again for making us feel this way!! The food was also amazing. Everyday the menu switched and you’ll have different options to choose from. Everything equally good. The place itself is amidst pure nature and very cool to get the gardentour where you can see all kinds of animal and plants/trees.
It was an amazing place.
Great food.
I will definitely recommend this place.
The sunset is just amazing from the tree deck by the lake.
Very quiet and isolated place just how I like.
Thanks for such a nice welcome.
The place is very open to nature which we liked a lot. Mosquitonets were good quality and doing their job, so we still felt comfortable during the night. sometimes it got a little windy, but they gave us extra blankets so not a problem. They serve very delicious food (big portions) for a good price. The family who runs the place is absolutely adorable and makes you feel so welcome. They offer cheap tours as well, we went kayaking and hiking Maderas vulcano with them and had an amazing experience.
Ms Delfa does an excellent job, with hosting, cleaning and cooking all in her capable hands
