Seemed to be a different place to the other reviewers. Our food was terrible and and extremely overpriced at $15 per person for dinner. We had one vegetarian and one fish curry. The fish curry was roti, two spoons of potatoes, a small helping of greens and three pieces of fish. The vegetarian was identical but with no fish normal price $5 at most in local stall. Sadly it wasn’t tasty either we left over half and were told off as Sonja the owner had no dog to feed it to. That was not the worst. Sonja wanted euros in payment and was annoyed we had none. She then insisted on US dollars not initially accepting the local currency unlike all other places in Georgetown. Then our room was not the triple we had booked at 18m2 (for extra space). But a cheaper simple double -as we were only two and the triple was being used - she opened the door and showed us other belongings on the bed. No refund for not giving us the more expensive room we had paid for. I don’t recognise the place other people have described in their favourable reviews but beware - it was also quite noisy at night being next to main airport road. The positives. The husband was pleasant and punctual for an early airport transfer the place was also clean and shared facilities good.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Conveniently located near the airport, this is the perfect place for a lay over or for a last 1-2 nights in Suriname. Peaceful, quiet, relaxed. Sure, this is a rudimentary camp and not a 5-star hotel, but that should be clear from the pictures. Still, the room was good, the bed comfortable, and the atmosphere perfect. You can hang out in a hammock, dip into a lake, or just play with the animals and have a relaxed day. I would any time come back for a day and a pizza.
No food or water at premises but market close by. Basic guesthouse. Clean, close to airport. Had to wait quite a while for proprietor to arrive so we could pay which was inconvenient as we were exhausted and wanted to sleep.
Sonja and Henry are excellent hosts. They go out of their way their way to be helpful. I would highly recommend them and the services that they provide. The meals are excellent and Henry was so good a picking up and dropping off clients at the local international airport.
Sonja and Henri are very nice hosts, the guesthouse is really close to the airport and they can do the shuttle for you on demand (10$ per shuttle). The place is clean, the breakfast good and you can eat in the evening for 10$ amazing meals if you ask 1 day before.
The owners are very attentive and helpful. They arranged transportation to the airport at 3am. Breakfast and lunch was very delicious. The swimming pool was a lot of fun for my family. The trees surrounding the pool and garden and very nice, quiet with only the sound of birds.
The hostel is two-minute drive from the airport. The owner is very responsible for picking up the guest from the airport, even it means waiting for about one hour for the guest to exit the airport. The area is very quiet in the night, providig a perfect settings for a good sleep, which is much needed for a long journey.
