    Bessarabia is a small world of its own with its mixture of modern and historic styles. The rooms are spacious and well fitted -- they're not the cheapest but rightly so. There is also a restaurant with great food -- I didn't take the breakfast but ordered my own selection and it came out just about the same.

    Dining room was excellent. Bedroom was luxurious. My west-side window looked out over a castellated area with ancient field pieces (cannon) and flower boxes, with a public children's playground adjacent. A short and pleasant walk to the port on the Danube, with one or two nice cafes. Only sign of hostilities while I was there were the heavy vehicles taking grain out of Ukraine.
