The home was super comfortable, spotless and had many updates to make our stay great! It's obvious the owners take a lot of pride in providing guests a memorable experience. We liked the central location, as it was easy to get to restaurants, stores and sights in downtown and the surrounding areas. The driveway below street level wasn't a problem for us, as we had read about it in other reviews. Parking on street was easy too. We were just totally surprised how fresh, clean, new and homey the house felt, and we would have loved to have stayed longer! When back in Hilo, we'll definitely stay here.

Hamakua House was in a peaceful location. Beautiful, clean room. Very comfortable and a well equipped kitchen. The nearby swimming hole with a waterfall was utterly delightful and the vouchers for a free breakfast at Mr. Ed's was a true bonus and yummy. We enjoyed our stay there.

Right in the heart of Hilo, easy access to most everything you'll need. Quiet neighborhood and peaceful lanai. Covered parking a plus for those rainy times.

This is a hidden gem of an historic old hotel in a very quaint old town with nice updated and comfortable rooms, on the second floor up a very long staircase.

The house was nice and seemed like new construction. The beds were comfortable and kitchen appliances were new. Odd that there wasn't a rice cooker.

Awesome place to enjoy a week. Just wish there would have been ac, but was comfortable for the time of year.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
Such a nice place, in a pleasant, quiet neighborhood. I loved the variety of fresh, exotic fruits available for breakfast—the host grows them right on the property. One night she even offered us homemade breadfruit chips.
We were pleasantly surprised how comfortable and cozy the house was. Dianna was a great host and surprised us and made a delicious banana oatmeal breakfast for 2 of our 4 night stay. We enjoyed very much the conversations with Dianna and many of the other houseguests in our shared space. It was a great experience!
We were late checking in and the front desk person waited for us to check in. Quaint, sleepy and quiet area near the hustle and bustle was fine for us- we slept well.
I enjoyed my stay very much. The room was perfect for a solo traveler. Everything (room and shared bathroom) was clean. Diana is a great host, very kind and friendly.
The location was good, I had a car to drive around the island.
Spacious, quiet, and well-appointed room in back of large house. Beautiful huge backyard with jackfruit tree and the Wailuku River about 100 m at the end of the lot. Parking on the premises.
Breakfast on the lanai (porch) with other guests was excellent: fresh fruit, homemade pastries, yoghurt, and coffee served by gracious hosts (not the owners).
The "Boiling Pots" are about a 10 min walk from the B&B and the Rainbow Falls a short drive away. (We walked, but it was dangerous because of lack of sidewalks part of the way.)
