Visited Akita for the Kanto Festival in Akita city. It is about 1 hour drive but was no stress. The town of Misato is famous for spring water and amazing sake.

Truly caring and attentive, drove us to and from the train station because weather was hot and we had a lot of luggage (can easily walk to the station normally, under 10 mins). Happily chatted and looked into recommendations for our interests in Akita+food, was enjoyable to get to know each other a little bit. The house is lovely, a mix of western and traditional Japanese styles, lots of space, both private and shared with Koh-san, and everything is spotlessly clean and cared for. Definitely will be happy to come back!

The house is beautiful and in a nice neighbourhood. We got a warm welcome and enjoyed the stay very much. The view into the garden was like in the picture - lovely. The tatami-room was elegant and cozy. We were happy to enjoy the hospitality of the host family. Arigatou gouzaimasu!

Best pillow among the hostels I've stay at so far! But more importantly the owners are very kind and generous and their lovely daughter likes to be social :) Shame not to spend more time in the area. Great to have a bar to hang your clothes/coat up!

You have a bedroom and you're free to use lounge, kitchen and bathroom. The host is welcoming and friendly. We (another guest as well) sat around and chatted in the evening. I really enjoyed being there and would like to have stayed longer but was already committed to a schedule.

It also has a few entirely modern conveniences which we were less interested in :-) but for people like us who really are interested in the Japan of the mid 20th century, it’s an absolutely delightful stay
