I took a wrong turn along the way and got slightly lost, but that’s the best thing that can happen to you in Sri Lanka. 🙂 Upon arrival, you’re greeted by tastefully decorated interiors and the inviting aroma of sumptuous food. The fresh air and tranquil surroundings create a soul-cleansing experience that lingers long after your stay. The excellent service adds to the charm, making every moment feel special. At Gammaduwa Bungalow, time seems to stand still, inviting you to cast away your cares and immerse yourself in the natural beauty and serenity of this hidden gem.

The Inn At Matale, a property with a garden, is situated in Matale, 35 km from Sri Dalada Maligawa, 35 km from Kandy Museum, as well as 36 km from Bogambara Stadium. I was positively surprised. It was actually one of the top accommodations for me in Sri Lanka. I liked everything about it. Especially the comfort and every detail of the room. The bed, the pillows, the armchair, the wardrobe, the desk, the lights, the kettle. Super clean. Very soundproof and quiet, which is quite important to me. Dilini is super nice, speaks English extremely well and is also interesting to talk to. And it was the perfect balance of helpfulness and privacy, which I appreciate. The restaurant across the street has great food for a good price. I was also able to go for some beautiful walks in the surrounding neighbourhood. I would book here again if I am in the area.

Book this place when you wish to see many things in and around Kandy! The owners went the extra mile to make me super happy. He is a safe driver who showed me many places per day in his comfortable car and she cooked fantastic meals for me with fresh herbs and spices out of their own ‘jungle’. They are a lovely and honest family, the best hosts during my world-travel :-) Also: the place is a gem in the mountains, beautiful decorated and with a clean pool. I felt really at home here.

A wonderful place to spend time in a peaceful location close to nature and natural beauty. The staff were fantastic and provided plenty of support and guidance, helping us to enjoy senic walks in the area. The breakfasts and evening meals were truly amazing and exceeded our expectations...

Set just 22 km from Bogambara Stadium, Walawwa Matale offers accommodation in Matale with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as luggage storage space. Its just a dream! We just felt at home!

Offering a garden and garden view, Irene's Home is located in Matale, 27 km from Kandy City Center Shopping Mall and 28 km from Sri Dalada Maligawa. This was an unexpected find in Matale. A bit off the beaten path, but an easy walk or trishaw ride to town. Its location was a plus since it was peaceful and serene. The owner helped arrange a guide to Knuckles Forest Reserve. The meals were also delicious and authenticity Sri Lankan. We would definitely stay here again.

Boasting mountain views, Ama Residence provides accommodation with balcony, around 30 km from Kandy City Center Shopping Mall. Excellent value for the price. Large, clean, comfortable room and the manager and staff ate very kind, helpful, speak good English. Thanks I'll see you again.

Boasting mountain views, Paradise Forest Garden features accommodation with pool with a view and a balcony, around 35 km from Kandy City Center Shopping Mall. We loved our stay at Paradise Forest Garden! It’s a little off the beaten track, but well worth it for the cosy, boutique-style atmosphere that feels more like a homestay. The staff were incredibly attentive, making our experience even more special. The pool overlooks the mountains, creating one of the most breathtaking backdrops I’ve seen. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a lovely hot shower and great water pressure. The real highlight was the staff—so friendly, attentive, and genuinely interested in making our stay perfect. We enjoyed the delicious breakfasts and the amazing, varied dinners prepared by a talented in-house chef. Nothing was too much trouble! A few sun loungers by the pool would have been nice (as there are only chairs or grass), but otherwise, it was perfect! This isn’t ideal for those just passing through or using their room as a base, as dinner each evening seems to be expected. It was perfect for us, but if you plan to be out all day or prefer to eat elsewhere, this may not be the best fit. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
