We spent a delightful 6 days at La Bougainvillier Blanc in late January. We have poor French-language skills but we managed quite well, aided by a translation app on our phone (you need lots of data - 50 MB). We deliberately didn’t rent a car - that worked because we like walking. If that’s not your preference, you’ll have an easier time with a rental. Our favourite places were the larger local beach, Plage Caraibe, (great snorkelling at the north end) which was about 5 km away, and the Chute de Acomet, a beautiful little waterfall with lots of little pools downstream, which was 7.5 km away. That made for some long walks with some significant hills. Fortunately, there is also a local transport system available which made it easy to get to the other nearby beach (Plage de Petite Anse). Hitch-hiking is considered normal. Good local maps are free at the tourist office. Our gracious host Lucien has a wonderful little swimming pool at the guesthouse, so an end-of-day swim was part of our routine. The trickiest part for us was dinner – we tried to get back to La Bougainvillier Blanc by sunset to avoid walking in the dark, but most restaurants only opened later. We worked around this by eating a large late lunch (good choices at the beaches), eating at the one restaurant that opened at 17:00 (An Ba Tol La), or else making our own dinner in our well-equipped kitchen. If you have a car, there are at least 3 good restaurants close by. Pointe-Noire is not a tourist town so most shops close in the afternoon. Some useful shops that are open most of the day are along the main road (N2) – there are two pharmacies in the centre of town, and a large grocery ((Carrefour Express) and a good bakery/coffee shop on the southern half of town. We weren’t looking for a lot of tourist activities – just a quiet, peaceful time with low-key, interesting things to do each day. La Bougainvillier Blanc and Pointe-Noire were perfect for that.

The privacy of the casita. Lots of space to relax, quiet with spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. We felt safe within the compound of the resort. The back-garden was lovely and perfect place to enjoy breakfasts and evening meals.

Jean, who owns the property with his wife, was on the premises. He was so kind, warm, thoughtful and provided immediate attention to any inquiries or needs we may have had. Microwave was replaced promptly. And, our last night there, Jean hosted a fabulous evening get together for us and other guests. Delicious food, beverages and lively bi-lingual (French and English) convo! I was sad to leave. However, we'd return in a heartbeat! Thank you Jean & Nadine!

The grounds are beautiful and peaceful, it was very relaxing. The hosts are very helpful and accommodating. We enjoyed conversing with them. The food was fresh and delicious including the dessert ;-)

Yepton Estate Cottages se nachází v rozlehlých tropických zahradách vedle ptačí rezervace se slanou lagunou. Nabízí ubytování s možností vlastního stravování kolem venkovního bazénu. The owners were extremely hospitable, helped us with our luggage, transportation and dinner recommendations. We had a great time!

It was completely quiet and provided panoramic views over the ocean from the terrace. 2. The cottage was sensitively built -compact, but with all we needed. 3. The hostess and owner were friendly and very helpful -it was a pleasure to meet them both. 4. We were on a walking holiday and access to the southern half of the island was good from here. 5. It was extremely hot during our stay. The lovely swimming pool and terrace were much appreciated. 6. Exploring the plants and seeing the birds in the compact but varied garden was a pleasure. 7. This was our best accommodation during our 4 weeks on the island.

Glamping Eco Lodge Cueva De Las Aguilas nabízí ubytování v Cabo Rojo. Na místě je restaurace. V okolí se můžete věnovat různým aktivitám včetně rybaření a pěší turistiky. Byl zde jeden velmi ochotný, vtipný číšník, který na place jen kmital. Drinky dobré. Ve stanu kromě postele a zásuvky (přesně dle fotek) fakt nic není, což znamená, že do zásuvek zatéka voda. Nad kemp vede nenápadná stezka schovaná za kamenou budkou na parkovišti.
