He also arranged a truck to take me to the trailhead in the early morning so I wouldn’t have to waste my energy before the actual hike starts. The people running this lodge are extremely friendly and helpful. They were willing to put up with my rudimentary Spanish, but actually, the owner speaks fluent English. The older lady who ran the kitchen while we were there, is adorable. The decoration of the main parts of the lodge is beautiful. Our room had a little outside sitting area overlooking Otavalo. When we returned in the evening, the fireplace was lit, and we spent a bit of time there, enjoying the ambiance of the common room.
