Really enjoyed our overnight stay, lovely accommodation, very stylish and lots of space in the bedrooms. This isn't a cottage but a first floor apartment so a little surprised but didn't spoil the stay.

Very nice house and garden, unfortunately the weather did not allow any use of the swimming pool. Nice breakfast with fresh baguette and croissants, which tasted wonderful. Yoghurt and fresh fruit salad too.

A beautiful - and beautifully restored - chateau situated in Le Thiel, and highly attentive, considered and thoughtful customer service to match.
While some minor aspects of the chateau restoration work were ongoing at the time of this review, the chateau guest rooms felt complete. Our room was very tastefully decorated and well designed with some luxurious flourishes, such as plush bathrobes.
The complimentary champagne provided on arrival was quite simply, delicious. Likewise the generous continental breakfast provided the following morning that included freshly brewed coffee and tea, fresh juice, beautiful homemade jams, locally sourced brioche, homemade pancakes, fresh fruits and a selection of fresh pastries and toast.
A large part of the perfect score provided in this review can be attributed to the highly attentive (balanced with perfectly discrete) customer service we received during our stay. Our host (the owner) provided helpful local information and arranged a dinner reservation for us at an excellent local-ish restaurant Germaine & Alice - the menu was truly delicious and the restaurant deserving of its own 5 star review.
We were treated like royalty and felt very special throughout our (sadly) short stay.

We stayed in a section of the hosts' home, partitioned off by a curtain. The toilet and bath were connected to the room we stayed in. The room has it's own access to the terrace and garden so you can come and go as you like without going through the rest of the house. There's a table and chairs on the terrace which we used to have the dinner we brought with us as well as breakfast the next morning.
Everything was clean and we had what we needed to recharge on our drive from Spain to Germany. The property is very secluded, quiet and a great place to rest if you're looking for a simple refuge. The hosts were friendly and I'm sure would have been up for having a nice chat and recommending things to do in the area, but we were in a bit of a rush.
We didn't end up swimming in the pool, though it did look very inviting. The garden is large and includes a small pagoda, vegetable garden and a few fruit trees. There are cats and a chicken coop on the property. Although I'm allergic to cat hair, I didn't have any problems.
Breakfast was typically French: coffee, juice, croissant, some bread with butter and marmelade. I think the blackberry/raspberry marmelade might have been homemade.
Travellers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. This simple accommodation is in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
