Jeff and his wife are lovely hosts. Their homestay has a great view, clean bathrooms and showers with hot water. The rooms were simple but perfect. They also provide a delicious organic and vegetarian dinner every night (30k) and sunrise trekking in their rice fields (60k). Jeff will take amazing photos of you.
Jeff is very knowledgeable and helpful, he picked me up from the main town and organised a shared car to my next location. If you have a motorbike or want to rent one from Jeff, the location is beautiful.
We stayed twice a Mama's home stay Ruteng, and was our best stay on Flores. The rooms were small, but super clean and comfortable. We liked the garden and the small communal area where you could also meet fellow travellers. Also the staff were super friendly and nice. We also liked that the homestay was situated in a neighbourhood, and our kids also had the opportunity to place with the kids leaving nearby
This homestay was amazing!!! We got a chance to live like the locals, eat with the family, play cards and enjoy this beautiful city! I highly recommend this homestay when visiting ruteng:)
The hosts are very friendly and helpful. You can rent a motorcycle from the Homestay. The host was also helped us with getting a shared car to Labuan Bajo as the Gunung Mas was fully booked. He drove us himself to the place to get a shared taxi and communicated with the locals for us 10/10.
Also if you are there in the weekend, they also organise a family dinner for all the guests to join. It was really nice.
I really loved the viewpoint from the back of the home stay. Almost ready to have it the best to eat in home stay. ;) Jeff was passionate about the rice fields and loved helping out in ways he could. The women in the house working hard to make our stay comfortable even so it is a basic setting, and no hot shower which is fine to my standard . It’s a home stay that put me in touch with the rhythms of the locals. Early nights and early wake up with cockerel that reminds you’re on foreign soil 😂. An authentic stay 🙏🏽
Jeff is a lovely host that really immerses you in his culture. We ate in saris on the floor, walked around the rice fields at sunrise, and even got to sing with his family for the first communion of his relative. We felt like locals! His wife and the rest of the staff cooked us a delicious vegetarian dinner, and a lovely breakfast, in large quantities. Rooms were simple but clean.
A short but beautiful stay in Ruteng! Nina and Faldi are great hosts, welcoming, helpful and friendly. We felt so lucky to witness a traditional ceremony with them! They are now renovating/expanding the homestay and offer different tours and activities. Thanks and good luck!
Incredible homestay with an absolutely beautiful family. They are the kindest, most generous family. Excellent value with all the meal inclusions and help they give you. We were given a tour of their local community and monastery and use of their motorbike, plus lots of tourist recommendations. All the home cooked food with the family was delicious. This is the best home stay. Highly recommend.
