I had a wonderful stay here! Valentine is an incredible host — he welcomed me like family and truly went above and beyond to make sure my experience is what I’m are looking for. The location is perfect, in a peaceful village surrounded by canals. The homestay is simple but comfortable and you don’t need to worry about organizing a canoe tour, food etc — he arranges everything on the spot. Highly recommended!

Jose and his staff are all excellent. They will help you with whatever you need. The breakfasts and dinners are plentiful and delicious. I recommend their dinners for traditional Keralan food. Jose makes visiting the backwater canals very easy, he offers a variety of activities at a reasonable price. We opted for a sunrise small boat, small channel trip and I highly recommend this one. Watching the Keralan people waking up, going about their morning routines and watching the sun rise was priceless (and it wasn't hot that time in the morning). We also did a couple hour tour in Jose's traditional boat, having breakfast aboard while cruising, this was also very enjoyable. The homestay is well located and you can easily walk to town as well. The room was dated but clean and plenty of hot water. In summary I highly recommend staying at Kalappura!

We found the place very clean. The homestay has a big yard and the building itself is spacious and stylish. We inhabited 3 rooms at first floor, 2 double with AC and a triple without AC. I recommend the double rooms with AC. Bathrooms were also very clean.
During our stay there was a temple festival in the area and we heard incantations early morning. This gave a touch of local sense to our short staying.
The host Arsha put a lot of efforts in helping us with the boat tour, buying for us some things we needed, helped with transportation recommendations and cooking dinner and breakfast for us. She is an excellent cook, we really enjoyed the meals.
