The place was amazing, probably the best throughout our trip. It has a great story, it offers a lot of information not only for the hotel but also the area and interesting facts about Iceland.
As we arrived, the woman at the front desk informed us that she has already prepared our breakfast and it is in the fridge in our room. And what a breakfast! It was very diverse and delicious.
The room offered a lot of ammenities and a great view. The bathroom was supposed to be shared, but as we were only two couples at the time with two bathrooms on the floor, it felt as if it is just for us. And the bathroom itself was renovated, modern, very warm, clean and had everything you need.
The best part was that the hotel was near a beach with a small dock and with almost no lights around we had the most amazing aurora view!
I highly recommend this place while travelling around Iceland!

Easy to find location off the main road. Warmly welcomed by Neils the owner, being an ex Police Officer he knew lots about the local area. The room was in a separate building with a shared space, there was also another double room which wasn’t being used which made our stay a lot roomier! There was a fridge & microwave with free tea & coffee. There was a hairdryer. Good size bathroom with shower with plenty of hot water which was a little slow to warm through. There were two single beds pushed together & separate quilts. We ate twice in the restaurant where you could get free WIFI. Dinner menu was mostly burgers or veggie option, we had home made beef burgers which were delicious & allowed to bring our own bottle of wine to the table. The weather was very windy with plenty of snow. The snowploughs kept the roads open - beautiful area. We were lucky to witness the Aurora one night.
Located on a family owned sheep farm, Saudafell Guesthouse offers accommodation in Sauðafell. Free WiFi and free private parking are available on site.

We loved the house: fully equipped kitchen and a lovely living area furnished with taste and care! The hosts came in the morning and prepared/stayed for breakfast, so we had a nice talk around Iceland and life on the farm.
Travellers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. This simple accommodation is in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
Lovely hosts, very helpful when looking for recommendation for where we should adventure next. Room was really cosy and warm, we had a small kitchenette and private bathroom. Great to get out of the wind. I would really recommend this guesthouse to anyone visiting the area.
We used Google maps to help us get there as it was in a beautifully remote location.
Very friendly staff, excellent pizzas! Plenty of locals enjoying a family meal
