The owner was quite nice and helpful. We were going to the dance at the temple that evening, and he gave us information on when to leave and recommended walking over driving. I also asked him about a local grocery and he was able to help with that. The location was quite convenient. They had tea, coffee, a hot pot, and microwave available. Wi-fi worked well. The shared bathrooms were clean and seemed adequate for the number of guests.

Our host Rie offered us exceptional hospitality. She took us through the parts of the shared house, explained major sites in the village and made some excellent recommendations. We felt very welcome. This is a shared house, so you will be sharing the toilet and shower area, but the house is well-partitioned and everyone respects your space.
Sanrinsha offers simple Western-style accommodations with free WiFi. Guests can relax at the garden terrace which features tables and chairs.

We had an amazing stay at this pension! First of all, the place is beautiful, in a truly magical setting with all the trees and the beautiful garden around. If you're by car (which I would recommend), there are enough parking spots in front. Look for the entry of the parking/pension where there are lamps :)
Please note that this is not a "common" hotel, as there are shared toilets/bath on the ground floors as well as a kitchen and living space (where you can eat, relax,...). All the rooms are on the second floor (there are also sinks where you can brush your teeth or grab water). Leave your shoes at the entry and take slippers to go around.
Our room was big enough for 2 (we left our big luggages in our car and just had a small backpack with change of clothes/amenities). The wifi was very strong too (to plan for the next day).
When we stayed there was only another couple and it was very quiet. Since the place is made of wood, it will be noisy when people go around but it's part of the charm. At night, it was sooo quiet 🥰
We particularly loved the bath (shared but you wait for your turn basically) and the owner was super friendly and provided us with many tips and recommendations. He also called the nearby restaurant so we could enjoy a dengaku experience (expect to eat early, everything closes early!). Many nice things to see/do around, easily reachable by car!
Definitely recommend it if you're looking for something more rural and homey!!

Very cozy room with a really friendly hostess. The hostess prepared a meal for me despite the restaurant being closed. In fact, all the restaurants in the viscinity were closed and it was raining heavily, so that was kind of a life-saver.
I was in the area mostly to visit the Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, and for that the location is as good as it gets. Buses go from Takamori station to the hotel every hour, but you could also walk (about 3.5 km).
Shared bathroom and shower/bath, but I never noticed any of the other guest ( if there were any ). Everything was clean.
The only issue was that only a tiny towel was provided. If you can, bring your own.
Should be higher rated than it currently is, very nice place with a nice atmosphere.
