Kind owner who was attentive. There could be a better system for arrival though - I arrived late and let her know, and she was sat outside in her pyjamas waiting for me! I dont want to feel I've put someone out when I arrive somewhere late...
Room is simple and plain.
Has own bathroom.
Shared seating area in the shade outside.
Bottle of water was a nice touch especially after my long travels.
Cafe and restaurants and shop right outside.
When I arrived the bidet was broken and there was no wifi, but both were fixed the next morning.
The owner is really sweet and starting this business from scratch but I felt the room was overpriced for what it currently is and the struggles with the water etc. She kindly agreed to give me a substantial discount for the extra night of my stay which was much appreciated.

This is a very nice place. I would describe it as a bed & breakfast (not sure what it's labelled as on Booking). The owner lives in a separate house and guests stay in a new house with three or four rooms. Each room has a separate bathroom. It's all very roomy and the plave has a nice garden. It's also clean and the style is somewhat colonial with dark tree furniture. Wifi is OK but not great and that's the case wherever you go on Sri Lanka. I could do some work without problem and my daughter could look at Netflix. So, it's ok. The owner is very helpful and friendly and they have a washing service. The location is off Dikwella main street so it's quiet and it takes 5-10 minutes to walk to the beach across the main street and through some deserted plots. Since Surf Bay Villa is in the eastern end of Dikwella it's also close to Hiriketiya beach. Its possible to walk the distance but I recommend using a tuc tuc. This beach is nicer than the beach in Dikwella. Surf Bay Villa is definitely a clean, nice and friendly place to stay!

Beautiful homestay with clean rooms and the friendliest hosts! Thank you to mr and mrs Nimal for their wonderful hospitality and amazing breakfasts! They organised a scooter rental and even did our laundry for free! We would return in a heartbeat!
