Location is wonderful on the northern outskirts of Kathmandu, where you can see local people in a vibrant village situation includes a nearby popular Hindu "Sleeping Vishnu" temple area to visit. I originally choose here for its nature by a very short ride/ drive to main entrance of the Shivapuri forest national park for hiking to a choice of destinations. This hilly forest park provides essential services by producing much of the fresh air and water sources for Kathmandu city. Nice meals can be ordered on the 'menu' from the host with dinner time shared with the host adult family who are welcoming. The Homestay has 4 levels; first floor for guestrooms, third level for eating & has a 'puja' meditation/ yoga room accessible to guests and has beautiful rooftop views. I would recommend at least a 3-night stay here and enjoy the refreshing difference from the otherwise amazing Kathmandu city!
Located within 200 m from Boudhanath Stupa and Sechen Monastery, ROKPA Guest House is located in Boudha, Tinchule. It offers free WiFi access throughout the property.

Lovely hotel, staff so friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean and comfy and the breakfasts so good. It was so central to the tourist hub but the hotel itself was more among locals which we liked.

Location and the reviews made me stay there and it was a good choice!
Sugat is helpful and attentive.
Travellers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. This simple accommodation is in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
The lunch at Sacred Trails homestay was delicious, sourced locally from Hari's farmlands. The accommodations were cozy and clean, providing a peaceful stay in a safe neighborhood. The friendly staff made me feel at home, and visiting Buhanilkantha was a highlight, enriching my Nepali experience.
If you want to have a authentic experience in Kathmandu, you should stay at this homestay!
The family is very nice and makes you feel like home. They have two children which are very sweet and you can eat good Dhal Bat in the evening.
The location is a bit outside of town. For me it was nice because my volunteering place (KAT Center) was within walking distance.
Giri Family Homestay in Kathmandu offers a delightful experience with its proximity to temples and stupas, exceptional service by the Giri family, breathtaking views, nearby hiking trails, and cultural immersion. Don't miss Nabin Giri's fantastic dal bhat cooking class. Plus, enjoy one of the best hot showers and fast Wi-Fi for a comfortable stay.
