We didn't know what to expect at Arthur's Pass Lodge. However, our stay here turned out to be a highlight of our trip to the South Island. Helen is a wealth of information, a great host, excellent cook and baker and just a pleasure to be around. The views from her place are excellent, and the ambiance there was truly remarkable. I would go back through Arthur's Pass just to stay here again.
Travelers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. These simple accommodations are in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
Helen is a lovely host who went out of her way to make us feel at home. She made a delicious salmon dish for dinner and fresh home made bread for breakfast (among other selections). As long as you are open to meeting new people staying in the lodge at the same time as you and are not precious about a flushing toilet, Helen's stay offers a unique opportunity with incredible views, star gazing and walking from the front door.
we loved our stay at the eco lodge with Helen who is a lovely host. The views from the lodge are wonderful. Yes there is power and hot and cold water and the bed is large and comfortable.
Great host, thanks Rony! Super friendly and acommodating to our needs. Place was beautiful and scenic and we were happy with the service mostly
