When on a last minute detour to Maligcong while on my way to Sagada. Mavy’s place just listed on booking.com and probably the only one in Maligcong that offers single traveller rate for a room. There are many positive reviews on other platforms but not in booking.com. I called Mavy when I arrived in Bontoc just to be sure my booking was accepted as Ive never booked a newly listed place so far but this is a surprise. Ive enjoyed her place as it feels luxurious for a backpacker. Mavy's spoke fluent English, probably the best local I've met so far on my trip. Nice view on the 3rd floor. Got a guide for a hike and visited rice terraces. Has 2 dogs and a cat to keep you company by just chilling at her place.

Host was very accomodating. We were not aware that place was very isolated and had only 1 small sari sari store. There were no place to eat at and host was quick to offer us what she had-lot of rice, vegetable fritters and fried eggs. She also had enough to prepare us dinner. Meals were 200 pesos per person which was reasonable.

The room was massive and the bed very comfortable. It was very clean. The location was great, easy walk to restaurants and shops. I appreciated the extra blankets as we felt a bit cold at night. The host is lovely and gave us the best recommendations. Try the fresh french bread from next door in the morning.

I like that I was alone on the 2nd floor so it was only me using the shared bathroom. Though the location is remote. Walking to the hotel at night is scary. There were no lights so you need a flash light.

Stayed 3 nights and would return. Simple rooms with hot shower, towel and TP. Had a room with view and balcony but not all rooms have this. No toilet seat. Drinking water provided along with electric tea kettle and you can rent stove use. No fridge. Currently lacks wifi but owner expects to add it soon. Place is new. Be ready for 15 minutes walk to jeepney station. There are minimarts, cafes and restaurants close by

This place lived up to its reputation. Great location, lovely large gardens lead up to the hotel. Beautiful view. Staff were so friendly and helpful and let us check in early and hang around while we waited for the bus. Room was perfect and shower nice and hot. The restaurant also had a great breakfast.

Vilma's place was very clean, comfortable and relaxing. Vilma was very welcoming and friendly and provided us with many tasty local dishes as well as plentiful tea and coffee. The location provided great opportunities to meet with the locals and to experience the Malicong rice terraces during the cool of the early morning or in the morning.
We had a perfect time at Vilma's Homestay. Vilma is a perfect host. Friendly, helpful and trustworthy. She cooked vegetarian dishes for us, which were delicious. She also organized hiking tours for us to Malicgong and Mainit. The room was really cozy. We had a wonderful time, would to book again and can highly recommend the accommodation.
Best to book Rowena's when you're planning to hike to Mt. Fato and Mt. Kupapey in Maligcong as it is very near the jump offs. You can also ask Rowena to book a hiking guide and prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout your stay. There is a parking area if you plan to drive to Maligcong. It is a homestay not a hotel so manage expectations. Still it has more than adequate facilities, hot shower was a lovely surprise.
Nanay Vilma was so accomodating. Loved the toilet and showers. Food was great- homecooked by nanay, location is so close to the beautiful rice terraces and Mt Kupapey. Nanay can arrange/contact tours for you. This homestay is giving very homey vibes. Would recommend!
It felt like a genuine homestay allowing you to gain a better understanding of how people live in this part of Luzon. Vilma was very friendly and helpful, arranging local guides to facilitate visiting the surrounding countryside and rice terraces. Everything is very clean and good meals are provided upon request for very reasonable rates. It's located immediately alongside the start/end of the steep jeepney ride up from Bontoc.I really enjoyed my stay and would thoroughly recommend Vilma's Homestay.
The hospitality was superb. We really felt at home, we really had home vibes. The tea and coffee was amazing. Home cook food by manang Vilma was great. The whole house was tidy and clean..it was a great experience at Vilma homestay.👍☺️
Best homestay we've been!
Vilma is such a lovely and caring person, she cooked us 3 meals a day (breakfast at 5:45 am) and her dog Tyson guided us through the rice terraces.
Comfy bed, nice little room, beautiful terrace to enjoy coffee and really good food.
Love to visit her and her homestay again!
