The location was great — right by the old street and trailheads! The owners were also lovely. They let us check out very early, and when we asked if they could help us find an early morning cab, they connected us with a driver who was able to take us to Alishan. Highly recommend!

The caretaker and owners are all good people. They care about their customers. Thank you Joyce 😍 for going above & beyond the duties of a caretaker.
Story time:
We only stayed 1 night in this homestay Tian Yi Homestay, because there was no more available days we can book. They brought us to our next homestay, which was not so far from them, but still, we need to drive there. So while we were on our next homestay (TianLong Tea Homestay), which was far from 7/11 or any restaurant for that matter, they dont offer breakfast for their customers, (we were never offered any) the caretaker just gave us a 7/11 card worth 200 taiwan dollars. I called Joyce and told her my mom needs breakfast because she’s a diabetic, Joyce told me that she will take care of it and bring us breakfast where we were staying…i was ro relieved because we didn’t have to walk going to 7/11 (which was like 20 mins walk from the homestay). I couldn’t thank her enough for bringing breakfast for all of us not just my mom! Thank you so much Joyce! I will never forget your kindness!

Lovely hosts who were helpful with travel arrangements. Breakfast was good and the surroundings are lovely with the tea plantation. It's also easy to get to Alishan via public bus and back to Taipei.
This was my first Homestay experience and I loved every minute of it!! I figured if I was to understand tea farming, it would be best to stay with tea farmers. The couple were so friendly and loved to tell and show you everything they knew, the touch, sight, smell, and taste of the tea, nearby local plant species, fireflies, etc. I also love all of their fur babies. They are genuinely good hearted people who enjoy the company of others. Also, the downtown is only a ten minute walk and my cousins and I went at 10 pm and felt perfectly safe!
We had a very nice stay at Tianyi Homestay. Very friendly and accommodating people and very good tea! possible hiking trails as well as Alishan being easy to reach by bus!
The hosts at Tianyi are wonderful. They make it a real Homestay with their genuine and personal customer service. You don't feel like a customer though, more like a long-lost friend or relative! The optional tea making and firefly tours are a joy, and the provided food and teas are authentic, delicious and never-ending! I easily walked to the Shizhou 7322 bus stop with my big pack (15 min). My lovely fellow guests from the Phillipines and I also got help with local trails and bus 7322 movements.
Right in the middle of tea terrace and very nice walks, this homestay is great. The family who is in charge is so friendly and easy to communicate with. When we arrived we had tea ceremony and were suggested to experience a fireflies trip at night. It was just amazing! I would recommend 100 times!
Homestay which feels like home. Spacious room with big beds. The owner VERY KIND. thanks Ms. TENG for your great hospitality & asisstant during our stay in Alishan. We had sweet memory in Tian yi homestay. Surely will be back again. Send our hugs to "OK" and other cats
The family who run this home stay are amazing. So kind and welcoming. The family took us to a delicious dinner and to see the fireflies, taught us how to pick tea and dried it. This is a place for anyone who loves tea. The setting is gorgeous . We took a 2-3 hour hike on the trails to the top of the mountain starting from the homestay. In our opinion, that walk through the tea fields and the forest was better and less crowded than alishan national park. The rooms are simple and comfortable. I very highly recommend Tianyi!
Absolutely lovely hosts who helped drive us to the bus stop and dinner, beautiful tea terraces and sunset viewing platform right outside, adorable cat and delicious breakfasts; we had an amazing stay and would absolutely recommend this homestay to visitors who want the warmest Alishan experience in a unique location.
