Lived the true Sumatran shower experience: sluicing buckets of water down my body felt SO refreshing in the humid warm weather.  Also, loved the porch area just outside of the hotel!

My partner and I stayed 1 week at the Sumatra Thomas Leaf monkey guesthouse and it is by far the highlight from all of our travels. All of the staff are so friendly and inviting and make you feel like family. They all go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. The accomodation is located just a short walk from town making everything easily accessible. We booked our trek with them also. We did the 2 nights and 3 day trek and were led by knowledgeable guides who customised the trek to our needs. We seen many orangutans, various monkeys, hornbills and other stunning wildlife. We are vegetarian and all the meals were delicious. Best of all the guides are passionate about the health and protection of the jungle and take all ethical measures seriously. We also booked a day trip through them to see the one of the largest flowers in the world. It was an experience that we will not forgot. It was an incredible experience!!! Highly recommend to anyone looking to visit Bukit Lawang.

We loved staying at the view, its beautifully situated on the hill and the family that owns it is so kind and helpful!

Comfortable beds, beautifully decorated room, amazing tropical garden, delicious food in the restaurant, the well organised and executed overnight tour into the jungle (yes, we were lucky to see orangutans in the wild) But it is the people working at the Orangutan discovery villa that made our stay unforgettable - highly hospitable, accommodating, genuine in every way. If we are ever to go back to Bukit Lawang it will be the this place.

Sumatra Cheeky Monkeys có khu vườn, phòng chờ chung, sân hiên và nhà hàng ở Bukit Lawang. Chỗ nghỉ này có các tiện nghi như quầy bar và tiện nghi BBQ. This was such an amazing place. The owners Sarah and August welcomed us very friendly. We had a pickup at the bus station. The rooms were nice, spacious and comfortable. The food was tasty and for reasonable price. We did 3 days trekking with guide Bai and friends and had so much fun. We saw tons of animals including wild orangutan, siamangs, argus and turtles. The camping in nature was simple but very fun and the food was amazing. We felt like in a family. Thank you 🙂

The Kupu Kupu garden guest house is in a beautiful location with very friendly staff especially Arif who made us feel at home and welcome straight away! we enjoyed our stay so much that we booked in for longer because we didn’t want to leave! the facilities were all perfect and the whole place was very clean, we honestly didn’t want to leave! we would of spent longer there if our stay in Sumatra wasn’t so short. We definitely recommend this accommodation for anyone else and will definitely be back!
