Located within 50 km of Kandy City Center Shopping Mall in Matale, Gammaduwa Heritage Bungalow and Tea Gardens features accommodation with seating area. Spacious comfortable room with separate entrance. Large bathroom with shower. Beautiful scenery if a little remote ( not a criticism, just something to be aware of) Walking opportunities straight from door. The weather wasn’t kind to us but we did get one morning when we were able to do the tea experience. The best part for me was the food - they prepared some wonderful gluten free Sri Lankan meals for me which was the best food I had in our 3 week trip. Dave is very engaging and we enjoyed our chats with him.

The Inn At Matale, a property with a garden, is situated in Matale, 35 km from Sri Dalada Maligawa, 35 km from Kandy Museum, as well as 36 km from Bogambara Stadium. Lovely hosts, absolutely helpful, kind and genuine. Best English speakers we met during our 3 weeks stay in Sri Lanka. The room was really clean and quiet.

Book this place when you wish to see many things in and around Kandy! The owners went the extra mile to make me super happy. He is a safe driver who showed me many places per day in his comfortable car and she cooked fantastic meals for me with fresh herbs and spices out of their own ‘jungle’. They are a lovely and honest family, the best hosts during my world-travel :-) Also: the place is a gem in the mountains, beautiful decorated and with a clean pool. I felt really at home here.

Offering a garden and garden view, Irene's Home is located in Matale, 27 km from Kandy City Center Shopping Mall and 28 km from Sri Dalada Maligawa. I loved the old style of the house with its inner courtyards, and large verandah. Our hosts were very welcoming and attentive and generous with snacks etc. We enjoyed the bird life in the garden.

Boasting mountain views, Paradise Forest Garden features accommodation with pool with a view and a balcony, around 35 km from Kandy City Center Shopping Mall. We loved our stay at Paradise Forest Garden! It’s a little off the beaten track, but well worth it for the cosy, boutique-style atmosphere that feels more like a homestay. The staff were incredibly attentive, making our experience even more special. The pool overlooks the mountains, creating one of the most breathtaking backdrops I’ve seen. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a lovely hot shower and great water pressure. The real highlight was the staff—so friendly, attentive, and genuinely interested in making our stay perfect. We enjoyed the delicious breakfasts and the amazing, varied dinners prepared by a talented in-house chef. Nothing was too much trouble! A few sun loungers by the pool would have been nice (as there are only chairs or grass), but otherwise, it was perfect! This isn’t ideal for those just passing through or using their room as a base, as dinner each evening seems to be expected. It was perfect for us, but if you plan to be out all day or prefer to eat elsewhere, this may not be the best fit. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This 1930s bungalow is sprawled across 98 acres of a tea plantation, at the foot of the Knuckles Mountain Range. We booked the accommodation at the last minute. It's a lovely place with a beautiful view nestled between the tea fields. The old house is tastefully furnished, with very friendly staff and an excellent kitchen. There is a private waterfall on the estate that is truly worth visiting. We were very satisfied and would return anytime.
