The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect. It is really close to the train station, and all the key attaractions in town. It's also well connected with plenty of great hiking routes. The value for money is brilliant.
A quick note (but I really did not mind that, and the hotel completely fulfilled my needs and expectations): as I was travelling in November, and the season was low, it was not possible to order breakfast.
The Hotel&Hostel Montarina occupies a historic Villa built around 1860, only 656 feet from the Lugano train station. It offers a park with a pool, free WiFi and a limited number of free parking...

Beautiful and relaxed place to rejuvenate. Everything was perfect. Thanks Mike for your kindness and hospitality. I reallyvhope to visit again to explore the other hiking trails and water holes
Budget travelers know there's no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: Save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a little more.
Great Location with walking distance to Promenade and Restaurants. Short walk to Bus stop. The Apartment was clean and Comfortable with view of Lake. there where some stairs to Apartment which was not a problem for us. it was nice to have A/C and a Parking spot near by. The owners were really nice and helpful.
Great location, close to the lake. Compact, but cosy and modern room. Easy check in and out. Close to restaurants - good value for an expensive place !
Friendly staff, good breakfast, restaurant is good, rooms small but comfortable, well equipped, super quiet aircon in the room, sound proofing to the outside is good, everything worth doing in Ascona is walking distance.
Great central location and tranquil spot. We had the casa rustica to ourselves. Had a lovely breakfast in the garden. Bed was very comfortable and we borrowed the free bikes to get around town (caution: not flat!). It is more like an evangelical hostel than a hotel but all the modern comforts are still to be had.
Fantastic location on the lake with stunning views. This hotel has some of the friendliest staff we have ever encountered, they were just lovely. The suits are very well appointed but then this is not a cheap place to stay so they should be. The food in their lake front restaurant was excellent as was the service. Breakfast was superb too. There is an excellent attention to detail for guests throughout the hotel which is a credit to the hard work team behind it. If your thinking of staying in the area then is should be top of your list!
This hotel has a great location, just outside the pedestrian zone of Ascona. Private parking is available. Rooms are comfortable and functional. Views from the restaurant terrace is fantastic and breakfast is very good.
