Set in Guachaca, 45 km from Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, EcoHostal Palmares Del Rio offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace.

Location next to the river was beautiful, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the flora and fauna around the hostel was amazing, it was a hidden gem tucked away from all the tourists. Its a shirt walk to the main road and as soon as you cross the road there is a moto taxi stand where you can catch a bike in Guachaca town. The buses also stop directly opposite the road that EcoHostal is down.

Mendihuaca Surf Camp features a garden, private beach area, a terrace and bar in Guachaca.

My favourite place to stay in Colombia. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind, especially Joyanita. The surf instructor Christian was amazing, knew the spot really well and was very helpful with picking the waves. The dorms were comfortable and clean. 10/10 place, vibe was unmatched, would come back here in a heartbeat.

Tony and Vicky are welcoming and inspiring hosts because of their generosity, both with their guests and the village community. Adjacent to the Rio and with a magnificent infrastructure, the location is perfect. Good music, the staff were adorable and the food delicious and affordable. Thank you again, Tony, for those wonderful few days with you

Boasting a restaurant, Magdalena Beach House is set in the sidewalk in Los Cocos. and also provides a bar and a garden. Guests can enjoy ocean and garden views.

We had a room with a sea view on the highest floor. The sea is far away and sometimes barely visible, but the view over the trees is very nice since the place is high on the hill. The interior is nice and stylish, and the bathroom is high standard. The staff was nice and helpful. Good Wi-Fi. No air conditioning, but there were two fans and good air circulation. Coffee, tea, and cold water were available for free, which was very nice. You can really feel the jungle around— I spotted monkeys, lots of birds, big colorful insects, and spiders, etc. (of course, outside, not in the rooms!). The beautiful beach is a 7-minute walk away. It’s great because there are very few people, lots of cormorants, and two beach restaurants with good prices and delicious food. A 30-minute walk along the beach leads to a place where you can rent a kayak to explore the river. The sea here is very rough, so it’s not very good for swimming, but you can surf or jump with the waves. ;) The place is a 5-minute walk from the main road, where you can catch a bus every 20 minutes (to Santa Marta, Tayrona, or Palomino), but it’s far enough that you don’t hear the noise of passing trucks. Only on Saturday did we hear loud music from the bar.

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.

Had the larger dorm room with 4 bunk beds and hence it felt very spacious for 1 pax. Breakfast was yummy and the location is close to everything. Great that the staff spoke English as it helps, given my limited command of Spanish.

Great location, very helpful staff. The individual rooms/pods and very nice. It is possible to use the facilities of the hostel next door (restaurant, swimming pool etc). There is a fan in the room to keep cool at night.

Kind staff, great value, amazing pool, right at the beach, good and sufficient amenities. Would recommend booking the 10 bed jungle room rather than the one with 8 beds. A place for a peaceful stay but there are several other hostels in walking distance that you can go to for a party. Still, easy to meet other travelers!

We had the best stay at Encanto! Harold was so welcoming and helpful and the hostel itself feels really new and clean. It’s a great spot to stay in to visit the waterfalls at Poza Encanta, Medihuaca beach and Tayrona Park - we also could leave our big rucksacks there whilst we were at the park which was super helpful. The food was also excellent - especially the coco rice and fruit from the garden, and the dogs were the cutest.
