Everything was great. Clean and tidy. There was the most charming lady called Rebecca. So amazing and friendly and outstanding customer care. Alfie is also such a warm welcoming Scouser with a great character. There was another lady who had brown hair who worked on reception and breakfast, I think from Cheshire or somewhere. Unfortunately this lady was quite rude and abrupt. Made me not want to go up to reception when she was there. Not sure if she was having a bad day or a bad few days, but I reccomend she spend a day or two with the others and learn great customer care.
The YHA Ambleside sits on the shores of Lake Windermere in the Lake District. It offers a range of budget accommodations and a café serving local food.

All the members of staff we spoke to were very helpful and friendly. There was plenty of space in the common areas to relax. We went for the Continental breakfast which was simple and cheap although we would have liked more options in terms of cereal and perhaps a yoghurt to go with granola.
Set by a river, this Lakeland YHA in Borrowdale Valley has fine mountain views and an informal atmosphere. Enjoy family-friendly walks, laundry facilities and hot meals.

It was clean and nice place I love the location and the staff but the it would have been really nice if you could avail staff to order food as you pay for everything anyways.. however rest was fine. Really countryside area feeling was great.

Came back to nice warm Hostel with a very friendly receptionist who swiftly booked me in.
The dorm room was great with plenty of room and only one other person staying in it.

Cozy, friendly staff with great communication, big breakfast
Budget travelers know there's no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: Save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a little more.
Better than what I expected as I have stayed in a hostel before and it very not as clean as this place and they were able to cater to our halal dietary when it came to our English breakfast.
Great location in the centre of Coniston with parking place. A great base for many activities, walking and water sports on the doorstep with a good choice of pubs and local stores on hand. We even had the weather.
Great location set right in the centre of Coniston . Room perfectly adequate for a couple of nights and cheap for what you get. Food downstairs was really nice, we had read some bad reviews but tbh we couldn't fault it, especially the breakfast which was great. Despite the odd annoying thing I'd stop there again, all part of it's charm, lol.
Best youth hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Loads of space, food was excellent, room was clean and facilities were great. Big group of kids in when we were there, but that’s to be expected! Kids were quiet at night, and staff were very friendly.
The staff were friendly and helpful, explaining the necessary information for my stay. The meals were very good value for money as well as I was able to get a main meal and dessert for £15-£17 compared to eating in the village. The hostel is a short walk away from Coniston centre which is ideal if you plan to go for a drink with a group to one of the village's pubs.
The location also makes it a cheap option for solo hikers doing the Old Man of Coniston or the other hiking trails around the area.
It was my first time staying in a youth hostel and now I don’t think I will ever go back to staying in a hotel. The staff were friendly, the self catering kitchen was excellent, toilets and rooms so clean and the location was amazing. There was also a little games room what my daughter absolutely loved.
