Nice place with clean rooms and a common space. Downstairs there is a cafe. The owner is very friendly, helpful, and kind. It's a great deal for the price. See you again!

Located in Nagaoka, 10 miles from Hikone Castle, Guesthouse Izame Ann provides accommodations with free bikes, free private parking, a shared lounge and a bar.

Well worth the effort to travel to experience a lovely ryokan, it's host and the town. I paid for dinner and I'm SO glad I did. It was a highlight of my stay and in deed a highlight of my 5 week trip in Japan. You sit in a sunken seating area and watch the ryokan owner/cook prepare what felt like a large number of individual dishes. The food was absolutely delicious. I was concerned about hearing other guests because, being an older house, the walls are thin - but the night I was there all the guests were respectfully quiet. I had a view over the "river" which may be a mis-nomer - but it is a peaceful stream running through the pretty street. I highly recommend a visit.

Featuring a terrace and a bar, 片原楽家 旅人の長浜町家ドミトリー is located in Nagahama, 8.7 miles from Hikone Castle and 5.5 miles from Maibara Station.

The location was excellent, but there were many issues. The amenities box was almost empty, the shower room didn't have tissues left, the shower itself was full of hairs, there was a lingering weird smell everywhere. We didn't get notified of how to check out, the check-in was very impersonal, only getting a message on booking. The security also left us worried, as one of our beds could not be closed on one side, leaving the sliding door open to anyone. Overall a bad experience.

GYPSY TAKASHIMA has free bikes, garden, a shared lounge and terrace in Katsuno. The property is around 21 miles from Sanzen-in Temple, 25 miles from Rurikoin and 26 miles from Enryaku-ji Temple.

Vibes of the accomodation were fantastic, fellow guests were very chatty and there was lots of games to play. We used the provided bicycles to ride to a restaurant one night, bikes are in great condition. Got a chance to meet the owner, he is very nice

The hotel is an outstanding experience as a place to stay. Excellent facilities - including the open-air bath in our room, superb food, and wonderfully polite and helpful staff. I also enjoyed the welcome cake and glass of wine on the 10th floor when we arrived. You will pay for the experience as the hotel is not cheap, but it is well worth it for the experience.

Lovely traditional style budget ryokan near a large strip of restaurants. There is an onsen which you can use privately as long as no one else is using it at the time. The manager is awesome, he offers you a lift to the station when you checkout which we greatly appreciated. There are some bikes you can rent for free, but make sure you ask early. It was great value for money.

Really lovely, traditional accommodation. The staff were friendly and relaxed, even gave me a lift to the station at the end of my stay. I also borrowed a bike from them to ride around the city and had some lovely views of the sunset over the lake. Everythung was clean and tidy with very nice and strong AC! Also a great location near the castle and the station, as well as being next to a shopping street with places to eat.

It’s right next to Hikone station. They had limited, fixed-rate parking on site. The “rain shower” is awesome. The hotel actively discourages overuse of single-use products such as amenity items. You can also get room package deals that are cheaper by not having full cleaning every day. The breakfast salads were crunchy.
