The hostess is what makes this place stand out. She is so warm and welcoming and full of good advice about what to visit in this area. The accommodation is basic, as expected for the budget rate, but comfortable and clean. Recommend bringing ear plugs.
The guest house is 20 min walk from the train station so may be less suitable for those with a lot of luggage. The beach is nearby with great views of Mt Fuji on clear days. The local fish market area is interesting and worth a visit.
Located in Atami, 26 km from Hakone-Yumoto Station, bnb+Atami Resort features views of the sea.

We contacted the property early to ask about leaving our luggage early and got no answer. On turning up early, no one was there, and no signs made sense. You have to climb 3 flights of stairs that are slippery when wet. None of the phone numbers or line phone numbers worked even on a Japanese phone. no emails got answered. Genuinely, the owners do not care at all about customers. You can arrive at 4 pm. The ipad doesn't work, so they had name and codes pinned to the door so anyone could get in if they wanted to.
My pod bed had the previous occupants check-in tag still pinned with in the bed walls so no one cleans the walls or wipes them.
There's 20 beds, 2 showers - 1 female, 1 male, and mixed communal sinks and toilets.
The bedroom is very hot at night, even in spring with the ac. There's no ventilation in the pods, so you have to sleep with the curtain open or cook yourself. The communal area just echoes noise around the rest of the bed area, so it's very noisy, especially with loud people, or the TV on.
It honestly was too much a problem staying here for the stress and the staircase. If you have issues and try to talk to the staff, he hides in the office.
Situated in Hakone, a 29-minute walk from Hakone Open-Air Museum, HakoneHOSTEL1914 has a shared lounge.

I think I cannot recommend this hostel enough. The host, Kana, is amazing and adorable, kind and helpful, she will always recommend things and make reservation for you if needed. The place is beautiful inside and out, the vibe is great. The dorm is so nice and comfy. The location is great. Konbini and onsen nearby. I wish I could've stay longer. I wish there were more hostels like this one. I'm so so happy I stayed there.
Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
We had a great stay at this hostel. The view of the harbour from the room was magnificent and the room was comfortable and bright. There is a cafe/bar at the reception which serves very good coffee. Highly recommended!
We have booked two nights in Numazu, because it was cheap and it was easier to do one day trip from here (Kawaguchiko, Kawazu waterfalls, Hakone). It has a 24/7 reception, which was very important to us as we arrived little bit after midnight. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the anemities are excellent. Coffee for free available at the reception, there was also a shelf with hygiene stuff (hair rubber bands, shavers, hairbrushes, ear picks etc). There is a possibility of brekfast.
Really friendly owners, great location- recommend using the bikes and cycling along the beachfront with Mount Fuji, it is glorious. We stayed in a gorgeous Japanese traditional room. Brilliant you can use kettle whenever you like. Perfect stay
Just outside of Numazu train station nort exit. Very neat and clean. 5 star facility. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Lots of restaurants near by. Peaceful area. Great location. Strongly recommend to everyone.
Nice place, beautiful scenery. Its a harbor area and my dormitory room had a window facing the sea. So of course the sight is beautiful. Also, its right in front of the dock.
Staff were quite amazing and friendly. I had some fun chats with them. They provided me with information on nearby sightseeing places and such.
There is a 7-11 right behind the hostel. Thats a real lifesaver.
Nothing much in this small fishing town, but it was my most memorable stay in this trip. Great view of Mt Fuji at sunset, great BBQ dinner where the staff prepare the table and charcoal for us in front of the hostel to enjoy sea breeze and the quite of the town, great staff who accompanied me at the BBQ with talkings via Google Translate :)
- Great location, only 3-min walk from Numazu Station, very convenient for travelling.
- Modern facilities, clean and tidy, good shampoo and facial foam provided.
- Breakfast is good considering the price, with roasted fish as the main dish.
- Friendly Staff, and some of them can speak English!
- And even a greater place if you are a "Lovelive!" fan!
Great locations, so close to everything -restaurants and convenience store and train station (3 minutes walk). Room are nice and clean and amazing. Excellent street view.
