Second time we came here, and once again our favorite place in the world! Sebastian, Mao and the rest of the crew were so good and kind to us. The bungalow is amazing. Just the perfect place to relax and calm down. The most beautifull beach in Cambodia by far!!

Had an amazing stay at Kualama Koh Rong Sanloem!
It’s a beachfront hostel! perfect if you’re looking to chill by the beach.
The common area is wonderful, I spent most of my time there!
Located on a quieter side of the island, everything you need is within walking distance.
The rooms are good. Note: there’s a fan for each bed, but at night the weather cools down, so it was totally fine.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking a chill, relaxed vibe.

The view is stunning from the porch just relaxing and looking out onto the beautiful beach. That was my favourite part of the trip. The coconuts were also the best I have ever tasted. Suzi and Miles were also so kind and helpful with great tips for the island. We would definitely return!

Let me start by saying that I had a great stay at the Lovesick and in M'Pay Bay. The hostel is located just at the edge of the little town, two minutes from a beautiful beach and 2 minutes from the main road. Everything in this place is close together and I feel it is a perfect place to decelerate and leave the hustle of the cities behind. The owners were very friendly, as was the staff and I felt at home from day 1. My room was spacious with a beautiful sea view. It had a mosquito net and a fan (everything I need to sleep) and the beds were decent. Overall, it was a good stay for the price I paid.

I've stayed in a lot of cheap hostels around the world. This is one of the worst ones.
The good reviews, I can only imagine, are from people who lacked the ability to differentiate between the beauty of Koh Rong Samloem and Saracen Bay and the below average conditions of The Big Easy.
It's dirty. I don't expect immaculate cleanliness. My house is kinda messy. The Big Easy is DIRTY. There's mold in the rooms and bathrooms. Dirt and dust (and sand - which is a bit more forgivable) everywhere. Things are falling apart (holes in the walls and ceilings, the hinge on my locker was completely disconnected). There were two bathrooms/showers in the 8-person dorm. The lock on one was broken, making it useless.
Some bunks have a shelf, which is good. Others don't, which is bad. Pay $2 and put up a shelf so people can put their phones on it to charge and don't have to put their toothbrush on the floor in the moldy locker. Plus, because they are so shoddily made, many locks won't fit the latch.
Only about 6 beach chairs. My dorm had 8 bunks. There are multiple rooms. You see the problem.
Some of the staff are foreign volunteers (there are also paid foreigners) - this, of course, takes paid jobs away from locals. One night there was a party until 2AM or so. Beyond making a lot of noise, it was the foreign staff that were up late making a huge mess (empty beer cans and bottles, cigarette butts, trash) and the Cambodians who woke up early to clean it up.
Finally, there was a mix up and they thought that I didn't pay for one of my meals that I ate there. Like I would dine and dash at the place that I was staying makes any sense. Staff was decidedly not friendly after that - which was their mistake. Even without this incident, if I were to come back to Saracen Bay, I'd not stay in this hostel.
The restaurant was fine. Good, even. Though, I have some concerns about the cleanliness of the kitchen after seeing the rooms.

Amazing view, amazing dorm - everything is so beautiful, clean and simply amazing.
The owner and his staff are great. It is in a very calm part of the island, perfect to explore the island’s beaches by motorbike and have a very chill and relaxing time. Ppl in the village are great and there a good dinner options.

The place to stay is clean, quiet, and I really like staying here. I will go again. Friendly staff.💚💚💚
Budget travelers know there's no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: Save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a little more.

I've had a wonderful time at Sara! The bungalow was amazing, I absolutely loved spending time at the day beds and the swimming pool, the food and drinks were great and spending the evenings at the bar was a lot of fun and an easy way to meet new people. Most of all, it were the people working at Sara that made my stay here one I'll never forget. They made me feel very welcome, safe and at home away from home.
The inclusive breakfasts were delicious, with loads of options available. The location was right on the beach with a lovely view.
The owner sent lots of useful info before our stay and gave us a very friendly welcome. Cheap laundry service and free kayaks, paddle boards and snorkels available. Having free water refills was great too.
Backpacker style accommodation, good for people who like a social bar.
Independently owned unlike other non-Khmer owned, chain hostels on the island. The busier evening bars like Onederz can be accessed easily from here, but it's a lot more budget-friendly. It's not fancy but you get what you pay for, a good nights' sleep!
Great location and cheap. We stayed in a dorm and it was comfortable big single beds with a curtain. Storage for bags under the bed too. Good food options and happy hour too.
The Cliff Hostel lives up to its name and more. Both the lodging and bar area sit high up on M'Pai Bay with the common space right on an actual cliff. The setting and nature inspired rustic architecture makes for an extremely cozy place to meet people, have dinner, and watch the sun set.
We had a lovely time during our short stay. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Please note, the private rooms are bare bones. Don't expect AC, warm water, or a sink. This is a true backpacker hostel.
Great location, on sunset side of the island. Away from main beach but less than 1min walk. Great snorkeling right next to the hostel. Staff very friendly and helpful, English speaking. Best shower!! Sufficient fans in lieu of air con.
