Boasting a garden, BBQ facilities and views of mountain, Smylies Accommodation is situated in Springfield, 33 km from Porters.

Convenient for 1 night stopover. Buildings a bit tired but everything worked. Georgie was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast not available for our stay but cafe over the road was suggested. Unfortunately they were not as friendly and ran out of some items, and what we had was average.

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.

The staff were thoughtful enough to warn me about a road closure that would affect my travel plans the following day. My stay was comfortable, quiet and safe.

Great location as we wanted to break our journey from Dunedin to the West Coast. Very comfortable and warm. The shower was amazing!!! And it was good to have a continental breakfast avaiable.

Such a cozy, comfortable hostel! Great if you want a more laid back hostel experience and a relaxed atmosphere to meet and chat with other travellers, or space to do your own thing. The host's cooking is also fantastic, well worth buying a home cooked meal at least once.

Great location, decent amenities and we liked the option to rent climbing gear. There were some bugs in the bathrooms but they keep windows open so that was to be expected and it is a backpacker so it isn't supposed to be super glam.

Great wee cosy hostel. Nice vege garden to wander around. Love the bunya pine. Wallside lamps for bunk (note, the single floating beds didn't have side lamps... Perks of a bunk?!) Friendly staff Very clean

Great location and close to several skifields in the local area. We found the unit comfortable and had everything we needed. Good parking outside the unit. Great communication from the owner, Louise - thanks. View over the paddocks to the mountains was really pleasant. Walking distance to the local pub for evening meals. Use of the barbeque and camp stove was a welcome bonus so we could cook at night.
