David and Marta were so helpful and made me feel really welcome.  I stayed for 5 nights in the single room with private bath and balcony. The room felt very private (I rarely and barely heard the people in the dorm next door) and I had everything I needed, including a big fan.  The balcony was great, strong wifi, good breakfast, and the back garden area was so peaceful, both day and night. I felt really safe. It was close to a lot of great places. The China House around the corner has really good food and.  There is a gym across the street where I swam laps twice. (Bring your own swim cap if you can because they are expensive and required!) During the day I walked to the Jade Museum and the National Museum (about 10-15 minutes).  Both are great spots! I took a quick uber to the Butterfly Garden and the nearby Zoo (actually a wildlife refuge, not what I would typically consider a zoo). They were both such peaceful spots to visit nestled into the bustling city. Having Barrio Escalante nearby was great.  I would have walked during the day but usually went at night around 9 or 10, so I took Ubers.  Lots of great restaurants and bars! Jardin de Lolita and Cafeoteca were my favorites.  On my last night, a Friday, I walked around Barrio Escalante. There was so much going on! Also, most of the travelers were in their 20s. I am in my mid to late 40s and felt comfortable. It is not a noisy hostel. Very chill and respectful. Great area to stay in!

I had a wonderful stay at this hostel. The place was clean, comfortable, and quiet, which made it perfect for the work I needed to get done and for resting after a long flight (they even let me check in early upon arrival, which was greatly appreciated). The wifi was good and stable, which was a huge plus. I had to catch an early bus the next morning, way before breakfast time, and the lady was kind to leave me some basic breakfast items (cereal, milk, banana, and bread) in the kitchen the night before. Although I didn’t leave the hostel, I saw on the map that it was very well located with shops and restaurants nearby. Highly recommend this place!

Ester`s Place se nachází v destinaci Escazú a poskytuje ubytování s zahradou, neplaceným soukromým parkovištěm a terasou. Národní park Poas je 50 km daleko. A lovely stay with a lovely host.

Hotel de conveniencia Travesía urbana se nachází v destinaci San José. Parque Metropolitano La Sabana je 7 km daleko a Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica 8,4 km. Small hostel with the family living on premise. They were very kind and accommodating. Everything was kept very clean. Excellent wifi. A good portion of San Jose is a little dangerous these days but this neighhborhood felt quite safe. It has quite a few restaurants (and a good gym) within walking distance but lacks a nearby laundry service and not offered by the hostel. Something to ponder if you plan on staying longer. Bed was comfortable.

Electronic key entry worked perfectly. Clean and tidy. The private room had a comfortable bed. There are roll down blinds for privacy and to keep the sun out. The fan provides good air movement. The other travelers I spoke with were interesting. Independent traveling women with ages ranging from 20 to 50s. It was fun to share stories.

Very affordable accommodation. Everything was very clean. Includes a simple but good breakfast. The stuff is very nice and helpful.

As my 1st accommodation in Costa Rica they set the standard so high it went unmatched for the 3 weeks I stayed in the country. Although not modern, it features sizable dorms, comfortable beds, has no lockers but clothes hangers are available and valuables may be stored in a specialised room. Pretty good breakfast, decent shared kitchen with an impressive spice rack, stable wi-fi. All that, however, is just facilities. What truly makes the property stand apart are the staff and especially its manager, with his insights into local culture, support, and warmth. The fact that the building also houses a local NGO makes the place even more dynamic and provides opportunities for some interesting conversations.

Hostel Casa Colón se zavazuje nabídnout nezapomenutelný zážitek našim hostům v srdci San José na Kostarice. Ubytování na hostel možná předčilo očekávání, pokud si přečtete recenze a trochu se připravíte na to, co vás čeká, tak cena naprosto odpovídá servisu a kvalitě. Samozřejmě čistota by se dala dotáhnout, ale na jednu či dvě noci to bylo dostačující.
