Boasting pool with a view and views of pool, Beechworth House is a recently renovated guest house set in Beechworth, 38 km from Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre. Featuring full-day security, this property also has a restaurant and an outdoor fireplace. There is a sun terrace and guests can make use of free WiFi, free private parking and an electric vehicle charging station. All units come with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with streaming services, a fridge, a coffee machine, a walk-in shower, bathrobes and a wardrobe. There is a private bathroom with bath in every unit, along with slippers, a hair dryer and free toiletries. At the guest house, the units include bed linen and towels. If you would like to discover the area, cycling and hiking are possible in the surroundings and the guest house can arrange a bicycle rental service. Beechworth is one of Victorias best preserved former gold mining towns, situated in the north-east of the state between Wodonga and Myrtleford, and is a popular detour when travelling along the Great Alpine Road between Wangaratta and Bright. Beechworth’s commercial centre extends along Camp Street and presenting an almost unbroken series of elegant buildings and historic shop-fronts, many of which date back to the 19th century. The post office was built in 1869, the former Bank of Victoria (now a gold jewellery store) The Historic and Cultural Precinct, located in Ford Street, is a major attraction, comprising of the old court house, telegraph station, town hall, a museum, and a dark cell which at one time housed the infamous bushranger Ned Kelly. Beechworth is known for its attractive streets and parks lined with deciduous trees which create an intense colourful display in the autumn. La Trobe University Beechworth campus occupies the site of the former Mayday Hills hospital (Beechworth Lunatic Asylum) which was established in 1867.
