Greg is an avid collector of old timber, stone and metal and has a special talent for creating artistic as well as practical objects from these found items.
Shara loves painting and cooking.
Both have a special fondness for travel, the ocean and music.

Sheltered by a bank of ancient Camphor Laurel trees, The Laurels of Chinchilla is a timeless character homestead and rustic cabins, set amongst magnificent gardens on the picturesque Charleys Creek and walking distance to Chinchilla town centre.
In 2010, Greg was working on a top secret project near Chinchilla, clearing abandoned mustard gas bombs which were left behind after WW2. Shara would come to visit him from their home on the Sunshine Coast, and they would stay at The Laurels. They were captivated by the delightful location, so different from anything else in Chinchilla.
Greg's project ran over schedule and the following year they were dismayed to find The Laurels had closed.
The couple made contact with the old owners and eventually bought the property, effectively buying themselves a whole new project of renovation work. Both have been involved in the building, renovating and design industries prior to coming to Chinchilla.
The result is accommodation for all types of guests, where ambience, and customer comfort are a priority. Guests can choose to mingle with others or have complete privacy.

The Laurels of Chinchilla was built by one of Chinchilla's earliest settlers on the banks of Charley's Creek, in an area originally known as "Downestown" a nod to the Downes family who owned the nearby sawmill.
The Laurels is situated next door to the Chinchilla farmers Market Fruit Shop, which is full of healthy, fresh produce, most of which is organic and locally grown.
Two doors away, closer to town is Sharpy's Cafe which offers wonderful meals and specialises in Woodfired Pizza's. A short walk further and you will arrive at the Commercial Hotel which also offers a delicious restaurant and bar.
