Located at the core of the Bund Historical and Cultural Landscape Area, it is the origin of Shanghai's reputation as "a global architecture exposition". Its heritage buildings, many of them in the Beaux Arts style, date from 1920 to 1936, as the Bund developed into a major financial centre of Asia.
