Situated just on the edge of the charming village of Langeais, off-street parking is available through our gates on Rue Rabelais as well as protected bicycle parking for cyclists on the Loire à Vélo. We are just a few minutes walk from the SNCF train station, the historic Langeais château, the banks of the Loire, our bustling Sunday market, and a variety of restaurants and bars featuring local cuisine, beers, and wines. While with us, enjoy times seated or relaxing in the hammock of our hillside forested garden full of gingkos, cherries, apples, oaks, maples, and magnolias. The salon, library, and generous outdoor table under the verdant vines of our kiwi offer an inviting and cool respite on even the warmest of summer days. Furry friends are always welcome to join our resident Breton Spaniel, Clyde, who joins in warmly welcoming you to Le Clos Rabelais.

Le Clos Rabelais has been run by Patrick for over twenty years. Now retired from journalism, he spends time chatting with guests, watching horse racing, tennis, and football or taking long walks with Clyde. Brodie joined for just a summer while working on a writing project and keeps coming back! He fell in love with the region and hosting the many interesting people who pass through Langeais.

Getting Around Langeais is ideally located a short drive or fifteen-minute train ride from Tours, the gateway to the Loire Valley. Tours airport and TGV station give easy access to Paris, London, and many other destinations. Tours itself offers a breadth of culinary and cultural experiences on the route of Loire à Vélo. Dining Just a short walk from Le Clos are a variety of restaurants, from Michelin-listed Au Coin des Halles to cozy wine bar L’Ami James, Langeais has something for everyone. Some of our favourites in the region include the incredible Pêcheries Ligériennes, featuring daily catches from the river in Brehemont across Langeais’ iconic bridge or rustic L’étape Gourmande in the countryside above Villandry gardens. Wine Langeais is surrounded by iconic vineyards, from the reds of Saumur-Champigny, Chinon, Bourgeuil and St. Nicolas-de-Bourgeuil to the cremant sparklings of Vouvray and Saumur. Visit vineyards, wine-makers, and discover a region rich in history and taste. Begin at the foot of Langeais château with a free tasting in the Maison des Vins of the Bourgeuil winemakers. Castles and Culture Renowned throughout the world for its royal, cultural, and architectural heritage, Langeais is an ideal base to discover the Roman and Renaissance or Medieval and Modern legacies of the Loire Valley. An excellent tourist office in the centre of Langeais is an excellent starting point! Cycling The Loire is a world-wide destination for cyclists, including those travelling the Loire à Vélo.
